The purchase of Star Wars by Disney from George Lucas meant that we were going to start seeing more and more of the franchise and that’s exactly what seems like what we will see. While J.J. Abrams is heading up the big revival of the saga films, there are other spinoff films being planned that will focus on other characters in the franchise.
One of those characters is rumored to be the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett, and Latino-Review claims to have stumbled upon some seriously juicy story details.
In the scoop that Latino-Review uncovered, Star Wars legend Lawrence Kasdan will apparently be taking over the production of the film since he’s always held a special place in his heart for the characters. It’s the special place in his hear that is leading him to alter the character’s origin story and drop the whole cloning origin we saw in Episode II.
Kasdan isn’t completely retconning the origin, rather he’s going to kill off Boba Fett in the opening minutes of the film and have a nameless, faceless mystery man assume Boba Fett’s identity. A western theme will be laid against this origin story, as there’s always been that element to Fett and to Star Wars.
Of course, none of this is confirmed and likely won’t be for sometime, but it’s still fun to ponder what that film amy look like if we ever see it — or even if we don’t
