SDCC Update: Marvel Announces New “Star Wars” Titles

Marvel Comics has announced their first three Star Wars comic book series, while hosting a panel at San Diego Comic Con this afternoon.

From Coffee With Kenobi:

Marvel Comics plans not one, yet three titles that will launch in early 2015, including a five issue miniseries focused on Princess Leia.

The two monthly titles include the series “Star Wars” written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by John Cassaday, which comes out in January and will focus on the core characters in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin. It will boast stories featuring Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca, and certain droids, among others.

The second monthly series, “Star Wars: Darth Vader” will be written by Kieron Gillen and drawn by Salvador Larraca. It examines the battle for the galaxy from the view of Vader’s biggest failure: the destruction of the Death Star. It will show how Vader sets out to instill fear, terror and loathing, while trying to get back into Emperor Palpatine’s “good” graces.
