If you’ve been following the rumor mill attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then you have probably heard that Daniel Craig, who has been carrying the mantel of James Bond since 2006, has a role in the movie. The role has always been speculated to be that of a stormtrooper, and now, thanks to Simon Pegg who is a good friend of The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams, we may finally have confirmation of Craig’s involvement.
While walking the red carpet for his newest movie Man Up, Pegg was asked about his own rumored cameo in Episode VII. His answer seemed like a slip of the tongue: “I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper.” Oops! Looks like Pegg may have spilled the beans. He then quickly tried to recover with, “I shouldn’t have said that,” but the damage was already done, and his little sound-byte instantly went viral. Let it go Simon, the internet has it now.
YahooMovies notes that, like mentioned above, Daniel Craig has been rumored to be in the movie for a while, and that an insider said the actor asked for some sort of small cameo role, while filming Spectre in the same area as The Force Awakens. Now, seeing as Simon Pegg is one heck of a funny guy, he could have intentionally let that bit of news slip, just to watch the chaos that ensued…because Simon Pegg is one of those men that I can imagine, enjoys watching the internet burn. I guess we will have to wait until December 18, and stay all the way through the end of the credits…which is something I do that anyway.
