Star Wars: The Clone Wars took a galaxy far, far away to places that Star Wars fans could only dream of…
George Lucas gave Star Wars the ultimate walk-off shot before selling Lucasfilm to Disney with the creation of The Clone Wars animated series.
This epic journey began with the Battle of Christophsis, where Anakin’s life was changed forever by taking on an unexpected padawan.
Alongside our favorite characters, we traveled to a vast number of worlds that Lucas never had the chance to explore in the films.
Throughout the series, we got the chance to see the peacekeepers of the galaxy in their prime. Before the great Jedi purge of Order 66. Before the dark times. Before the Empire. Thanks to the depth of their character development in the Clone Wars, we feel each of their deaths more deeply and painfully in Revenge of the Sith.
At the time of the Clone Wars, the Republic was on the verge of collapse, with the dark shadow of the Empire waiting to take its place. We watched helplessly as Dark Side agents slowly and subtly destroyed the democracy of the galaxy from within.
The Sith Lord Darth Sidious spread terror across the galaxy with the help of his apprentice, Darth Tyrannus, a cyborg Jedi hunter named General Grievous, an aspiring Sith and deadly Dark Side assassin, Asajj Ventress, and the many naive Independent Systems who did the Dark Lord’s bidding. In the films, we didn’t get to see much of these characters, but in the Clone Wars, we see them in spades.
With the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney, the Clone Wars ended abruptly and we all felt the sting of that loss.
The Clone Wars lives on, however, through stories told through a variety of mediums, with no signs of slowing down.
Join us and together we will take a trip down memory lane, as we revisit some of the greatest moments in the Clone Wars era of Star Wars. Are you ready to feel them feels all over again?

50. Anakin takes Admiral Trench head-on
Episode: Season 2 Episode 16: Cat and Mouse
"Episode Summary: A Separatist blockade surrounds Christophsis. Anakin’s fleet is tasked with deploying relief supplies to the surface but they are massively out-gunned and out-maneuvered by the skillful Admiral Trench. Obi-Wan arrives and unveils the Republic’s new weapon: a stealth ship. The stealth ship is the last hope at besting the cunning Separatist fleet commander and aiding the battered people of Christophsis"
The Moment: Anakin defeats the shifty Trench by refusing to back down. In combat with the Invincible, Trench’s personal flagship, Anakin is piloting a vessel known simply as the Stealth Ship. He then flies directly towards his adversary, with the intention of using Trench’s own weapons against him. Anakin’s bold move pays off. In a panic, Trench commands his protective shields to be activated, but Anakin’s plan was already set in motion and it’s too late for the Separatist Admiral. Trench is then frozen in shock and humbled in defeat, when his very own torpedoes detonate into the Invincible, destroying it, with Trench himself presumed dead.
Why It’s Memorable: Anakin’s bad-ass piloting. Need I say more? Since the age of nine, when he won the Boonta Eve Classic on Tatooine, he’s been known as the best pilot in the galaxy. Those skills are put to the test against a formidable opponent in Admiral Trench. Anakin uses the overconfidence of his foe and blows his ship to smithereens, proving once again that when you’re in a battle with the “Chosen One”, you best turn around and retreat into hyperspace as fast as you can. Even the hard-to-impress Colonel Yularen had to tip his officer’s cap to the young Skywalker.

49. Anakin and Obi-Wan discover a large kyber Crystal on Utapau
Episode: Crystal Crisis On Utapau Story Reels: A Death on Utapau, In Search of the Crystal, Crystal Crisis, & The Big Bang
"Episode Summary: Obi-Wan and Anakin investigate a mysterious death of a Jedi Master on Utapau, and uncover a secret Separatist weapons deal the likes of which they have never seen before. Obi-Wan and Anakin’s investigation on Utapau continues, and they allow themselves to be captured by weapons dealers who possess a focusing crystal of unspeakable power. Obi-Wan and Anakin must escape from Utapau with a kyber crystal before General Grievous and his droid army track them down. Obi-Wan and Anakin must do all they can to prevent a powerful weapon from falling into General Grievous’ hands."
The Moment: The two Jedi learn that Master Tu-Ahn has been murdered and then search for answers, discovering that the Jedi Master had been on the hunt for a massive kyber crystal, the same material used to power the lightsabers of Jedi (and Sith) alike. The two Jedi are successful in retrieving the massive kyber crystal but are still clueless about the true purpose of this unique crystal.
Why It’s Memorable: Kyber crystals! This episode reveals that the Death Star construction was well in motion and that it was, in-fact, a Republic weapon from the start. The power of the crystal was on display, showcasing the immense power this rare source contains. I can see now how the super-weapon of the Empire was so destructive.
Still dealing with Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Order, Anakin and Obi-Wan have a very deep conversation, revealing that Anakin still has not let go of losing his former apprentice. Anakin harshly criticizes Jedi leadership for not trusting Ahsoka, for neglecting in trying to prove her innocence, not standing by Ahsoka during her darkest hour as a Jedi Padawan. Kenobi does agree with Anakin, to a certain extent, that the Jedi Council did fall short in their handling of Ahsoka, but then states the choice was hers and hers alone.
The seeds of Darth Vader are firmly rooted in Anakin at this point and displayed throughout the entire story arc. Anakin is impatient and just flat out aggressive while trying to obtain information from the locals of Utapau. It’s ironic that the very reasons Anakin is furious, later turn him against the very person he vowed to protect when he later shows no mercy in his duel against his former learner.

In Rebels, Ahsoka sees Anakin in a Force vision and he asks her why she left him, proving that her absence played a large role in his turn to the Dark Side, later transforming him into the ruthless Darth Vader. Tears.

48. A traitor is exposed to the Clones
Episode: Season 1 Episode 16: The Hidden Enemy
"Episode Summary: Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi lead Republic forces in an attempt to defeat the droid armies and free the planet of Christophsis from the Separatist siege. When the Republic is ambushed and forced to retreat, it becomes clear that someone in their midst has set them up. The Jedi believe this infiltration is a Sith-backed operation and go behind enemy lines to investigate. Meanwhile, Captain Rex and Commander Cody set out to uncover the traitor among them."
The Moment: We learn that Asajj Ventress was behind the defection of Clone-trooper Slick, who she deceived into betraying the Republic, promising him a life of freedom. It ended up being a vain promise, when the betrayer was taken into custody by his clone brothers.
Why It’s Memorable: To be fair, the clone in question was named Slick. That’s not obvious or anything, right? This story spawned the possibilities and even a seed into the clones themselves, that they had a choice with their own lives and that they could even leave their designation as troopers. Later that is explored by clone defector Cut Lawquane( more on him later), and also with Fives who had his chip removed in an attempt to discover a sinister plot. Also that is shown during the events of order 66 when Rex and other clones made the choice to not betray their Jedi. I thought these clones were supposed to be less independent than the original host, Jango Fett? I suppose not!

47. Jar Jar Binks and Mace Windu form an unlikely duo
Episode: Season 6 Episodes 8-9: The Disappeared Parts I-II
"Episode Summary: The peaceful world of Bardotta and its mystic ways are threatened by an ancient prophecy, and its top spiritual leaders have vanished. Queen Julia of Bardotta calls for help from her most trusted friend in the Senate, Jar Jar Binks. Recognizing the importance of Bardotta’s spiritual balance, the Jedi Council sends Mace Windu to accompany Binks and investigate. Jar Jar Binks’ beloved Queen Julia of the planet Bardotta has been abducted by the bloodthirsty Frangawl cult to fulfill a dark and ancient prophecy. Representative Binks and Jedi Master Windu must find the missing Queen before the cult can rise in power."
The Moment: Jar Jar Binks and Mace Windu team up on an unlikely adventure.
Why It’s Memorable: We can all agree on this, Jar Jar Binks is memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. He is, however, offered a bit of redemption in the Clone Wars where his bravery and courage shine brightly. He goes undercover as a Jedi, helping on a mission. Also in this story arc, while paired with Mace Mace Windu, he shockingly has much to offer his partner in crime.
In part one of the Disappeared, Jar Jar is offered up as a sacrifice by a primitive group on the planet of Bardotta. How many of you were hoping he would just keep burning? Okay good, I’m not the only one.
The unlikely duo of he and the bad man himself Mace Windu make a really good team, surprisingly, with the two achieving their goal of rescuing the Queen of Bardotta
There was also some cool Force and mystic power-like lore in this episode which is always cool to see.
This pairing is also an homage to an old western style film where you have one character who is the ultimate bad ass, with the other being kind of a screw-up I found this episode pleasantly enjoyable and I am glad I didn’t just skip over it when I saw Jar Jar’s name in the episode description.

46. Bariss Offee gets possessed by a Geonosian worm
Episode: Season 2 Episode 8: Brain Invaders
"Episode Summary: Medical supplies are desperately needed for a crucial Republic battlefront. While the Jedi Knights transport Poggle the Lesser as a prisoner to Coruscant, the Padawans Barriss Offee and Ahsoka Tano are dispatched to escort the medical frigate to its destination. When Geonosian brain worms take control of the clone troopers aboard their supply ship, Ahsoka and Barriss must battle to stop the vessel from unleashing the deadly plague upon the galaxy."
The Moment: A handful of clones and Jedi Padawan Bariss Offee are infected by brain worms on the world of Geonosis.
Also, Anakin interrogates the Arch Duke Poggle the Lesser of the same planet, seeking answers on how to save those infected by these brain-controlling insects.
Why It’s Memorable: This episode had a zombie-like/spiritual warfare-style vibe that I thought was really creative and unique. It also foreshadows the later betrayal of Ahsoka at the hands of Bariss, which was a nice, subtle touch.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
More Dark Side vibes are shown in Anakin’s actions. Instead of using patience, he uses anger and brute force(pun intended btw) to successfully gain the answers he’s seeking from Poggle. It reminded me of Darth Vader in Lords of the Sith, the Marvel comics, and Rogue One. Anakin was well on his way to becoming a Dark Lord even as early as the Clone Wars.

45. R2-D2 is kidnapped by bounty hunter Cad Bane
Episode: Season 3 Episode 8: Evil Plans
"Episode Summary: In the middle of a routine shopping trip on Coruscant, C-3PO is abducted by the bounty hunter Cad Bane. Bane is looking for information about the Senate building on behalf of Jabba the Hutt. Finding C-3PO devoid of useful information, Bane and his accomplices kidnap R2-D2 and extract the vital data, before memory-wiping the droids of the incident, and letting them on their way. The floor-plans and security details of the Senate building are part of a plot engineered by the Hutt families to free their imprisoned brother, Ziro the Hutt, who holds potentially damaging information about Hutt activities."
The Moment: Bounty hunter Cad Bane kidnaps R2 and 3PO, as just another payday. The Jedi are spread thin throughout the galaxy, allowing the Hutts and bounty hunters to easily run wild throughout the galaxy.
Why It’s Memorable: Boba Fett, step aside. There is a better bounty hunter roaming the galaxy. That’s right, I said it. Anytime the blue Duros shows up, the stakes are always high. What other bounty hunter is able stand toe to toe with Jedi ( and even kill them), as well as gain the trust of Darth Sidious?
This time Bane is contracted out by Jabba the Hutt, showing that he will do anything for a pay day. This episode displays the ruthlessness of Bane and that he will go to extreme measures to complete each task.
The two beloved droids! Anytime R2 and 3PO show up I get them feels galore. I love how Lucasfilm writers also tease at the fact that 3PO is clueless and always having his memory erased, while on the flip-side, R2 always knows what’s up and always keeps his memory intact, even up to the time of The Last Jedi.

44. Ahsoka instructs a class of cadets on Mandalore
Episode: Season 3 Episode 6: The Academy
"Episode Summary: Ahsoka is assigned to teach a class at a leadership academy on Mandalore. Soon after she arrives, Duchess Satine’s zealous nephew — Korkie — and his classmates uncover a nefarious plot. Prime Minister Almec is revealed to be an active part of the black market conspiracy on Mandalore, and he attempts to permanently silence Duchess Satine and the cadets before they expose his corruption. Ahsoka and the cadets defeat Almec before he can succeed."
The Moment: Ahsoka becomes the teacher and instructs cadets not only in the classroom, but in actual real-life application.
Why It’s Memorable: The growth and maturity of Ahoska are shown by the Togruta with her mentoring skills on full display. I love how the youngsters have the same moral code as Ahsoka and even break the rules to bring justice to those who abuse their power.
This episode is a great lesson for all, especially for the younger generation, to stand up to evil and oppression, no matter what the cost.
Ahsoka and Anakin have much in common, showing in this episode lessons learned from her master leading up to this, with their struggle against corruption and their goal of eliminating it from the galaxy.
Anytime we see the world of Mandalore, it makes my heart sing. I really hope that we get more stories on its past, which the Clone Wars and Rebels do quite a bit of when they can. I would love to see the past conflict of the Jedi and Mandos which dates back thousands of years.

43. Anakin infiltrates a slave colony on Zygerria
Episode: Season 4 Episode 12: Slaves of the Republic
"Episode Summary: To locate the missing colonists, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka go undercover to infiltrate the slavers on Zygerria. Anakin struggles with his emotions as a wily Zygerrian queen forces him to take questionable actions in order to carry out his mission."
The Moment: Anakin goes undercover, using his charm to get the Intel and complete his mission at hand.
Why It’s Memorable: Dealing with the past can be tough and this mission forces Anakin to deal with his childhood as a slave. His hatred and zero tolerance for oppression and slavery are not hidden, so when Anakin sees it running wild throughout the galaxy, he will not allow the slavers to get away with it so easily.
The tragic aspect of Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side and his transformation into the unforgiving Darth Vader are spawned by his intentions, which are noble and good. All Anakin wanted to do was save his mother, protect Padmé, save and protect the galaxy, and fulfill his role as the Chosen One.
The ironic part is he lost his mother, his actions lead to the death of his wife with the intent of protecting her, Ahsoka left his side for reasons he understood more than most, and then later vowed to kill her, and became the very evil in the galaxy he originally vowed to destroy.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
Anakin’s salute to R2 is a nod( both literally and figuratively) to Luke Skywalker’s antics in Return of the Jedi. Both Luke and Anakin have the knack for using their comrade R2 to achieve their goals. Luke truly is a Jedi, like his father before him.
"THOSE WHO ENSLAVE OTHERS INEVITABLY BECOME SLAVES THEMSELVES"

42. The Talz vs. Chairman Cho
Episode: Season 1 Episode 15: Trespass
"Episode Summary: Arriving on the desolate ice world of Orto Plutonia, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi investigate the disappearance of a clone security force stationed on a remote outpost. The Jedi, accompanied by Senator Riyo Chuchi and Chairman Cho of the nearby moon of Pantora, soon discover their clone troopers were attacked by a tribe of furry natives known as the Talz. Fierce beast-riding warriors, the Talz are very territorial and only want to be left alone. The Jedi manage to negotiate peace with the Talz chieftain, Thi-Sen, when greedy Chairman Cho breaks it by insisting the planet and the Talz are under his power. The resulting conflict escalates into war between the senator led clones and the Talz, with the Jedi in the middle."
The Moment: Obi Wan and Anakin lose all contact with Clone-troopers on Orto Plutonia. They travel to the ice-covered world where they encounter not only treacherousness physical elements, butalso of internal conflict within the planet’s inhabitants. The two Jedi must overcome language barriers and also the arrogance of the planet’s leader, in order to complete their task.
Why It’s Memorable: The first time we see the Talz species is in A New Hope in the Mos Eisley cantina. Now we learn that these funky looking creatures are a primitive race in origin and a fierce group of warriors.
This episode really displayed the language and cultural barrier within two different people groups on the same planet. Its a good lesson to us all not to hate those who are different and that being power hungry like Cho can lead to disaster and one’s downfall.
I also love seeing Anakin and Obi-Wan in elements where they show their goodness and eagerness to solve conflict, doing so in style!

Plus, nice nod to Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back with those fancy winter parkas!

41. Master Plo Kloon and his Clone-troopers are stranded
Episode: Season 1 Episode 2: Rising Malevolence
"Episode Summary: An attack by a devastating new Separatist weapon — the powerful starship Malevolence — leaves Jedi Master Plo Koon and his clone troopers struggling to survive until Anakin and Ahsoka can find them."
The Moment: Ahoska and Anakin attempt to rescue a group of clones and Jedi Master Plo Koon, after they are ambushed by Separatists forces. Ahsoka and Anakin disobey the orders of the Jedi council in their rescue mission, but are able to rescue the Kel Dor Jedi Master and just a handful of the clones who survived the massacre.
Why It’s Memorable: Ahsoka and her devotion to her friends and willingness to save them at great risk, even if it means disobeying orders. I love the connection that Plo and Ahsoka have, with the Jedi Master being the one who discovered her as a youngling.
Plo is one of the coolest Jedi in the galaxy. Period. What’s also lost in the shuffle is the fact that he is one of the best pilots in the galaxy and can more than hold his own with Anakin Skywalker. So in Revenge of the Sith when he is shot down in the air by Clone-troopers, that is kind of a big deal.
Anakin’s lesson to Ahsoka on how she goes about disobeying is a crucial moment in their relationship and her development as a character in the show. He teaches the young learner that it’s okay to butt heads with authority, but you have to do so with tact. Ahsoka is a fast learner and you see her take that lesson to heart as the Clone Wars rage on.
"BELIEF IS NOT A MATTER OF CHOICE, BUT OF CONVICTION"

40. R2-D2 foils the schemes of Boba Fett
Episode: Season 2 Episode 21: R2 Come Home
"Episode Summary: Boba Fett and his band of bounty hunters lead Anakin and Mace into a deadly trap on Vanqor. It’s up to R2-D2 to journey back to Coruscant and warn the Jedi of their brethrens’ peril. Battling beast and bounty hunter along the way, the trusty droid finally communicates his warning to Ahsoka and Plo Koon, who rush to Vanqor to save Mace and Anakin from a fiery death."
The Moment: R2-D2
Why It’s Memorable: Boba Fett wasn’t always the cool and collected bounty hunter we see in the Original Trilogy. As a teenager he had anger issues, which didn’t help his quest for vengeance against Mace Windu for killing his father.
Seeing Boba team up with notorious bounty hunter such as Aurra Sing and Bossk is always a fun adventure in the Clone Wars. Anything with the origins of Boba is okay with me and I do hope that we get a Boba Fett movie with the focus on a plethora of bounty hunters.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
In Legends, it was always thought that Boba used the armor of his deceased father in his hey-day, but that apparently is not the case, since the helmet is used as a trap in the attempt to kill Mace Windu and is destroyed.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
I really enjoyed the action in this episode and it is always a treat to see the Jedi Master from Haruun Kal engaged in battle. Mace Windu was always heralded as an equal to Yoda and we see it here, and also when he kills Jango Fett, and when lastly where he (nearly) defeats Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith. Seeing both he and Anakin, who later on become rivals of sort, working together and using their joint powers is sight to see. Who else is excited for the new Mace Windu comic?
"ADVERSITY IS FRIENDSHIP’S TRUEST TEST"

39. The Clone Wars animated movie, where it all started
Film: The Clone Wars theatrical release
"Film Summary: As more star systems get swept into the Clone Wars, the valiant Jedi knights struggle to maintain order. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano embark on a mission that brings them face-to-face with Jabba the Hutt. Plotting against them is evil Count Dooku and his agent, Asajj Ventress, who would ensure that the Jedis fail. Meanwhile, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi lead the clone army against the forces of the Dark Side."
The Moment: The movie that began it all! The Jedi are struggling to keep the peace in the galaxy, while the Sith rake havoc everywhere. We see the climax of the Battle of Christophsis, a lot of action, and the introduction of Ahsoka and Captain Rex.
Why It’s Memorable: The introduction of Ahsoka Tano. Enough said. For some reason the critics really bashed the movie and even Ahsoka’s character( poor Ashley). Thank goodness those haters stuck with it and were given maybe the best Star Wars experience of their lives.
We first meet Ahsoka in the Clone Wars animated film, where she is sent by Master Yoda to relay a message to both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Once she fulfills her mission, Ahoska then informs the duo that she has been assigned to Anakin Skywalker as his Padawan.
Originally, the script had Ahsoka assigned to Obi-Wan as his new learner, but George Lucas thought that it would add maturity to Anakin with him taking on his very own apprentice. That decision had a major payoff, as Lucas not only provided depth to Anakin but created one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars history.
It was comically hinted at during the episode that Anakin didn’t want a Padawan and that she belonged to Obi-Wan, referencing the original intent of the Lucasfilm story group.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
The interaction and introduction of Ahsoka and Rex. Captain Rex tells her that experience outranks everything. She tells Rex that she needs to gain some experience if that’s the case.
Later the roles are reversed in later on in Rebels, with a nod to this very moment, when Ahsoka’s experience outranks that of even a war veteran, showing her maturity and growth.

38. Quinlan Vos and Obi-Wan hunt for Ziro the Hutt
Episode: Season 3 Episode 9: The Hunt for Ziro
"Episode Summary: Cad Bane has broken Ziro the Hutt out of prison. The Hutt Council demands that Ziro tell them where he’s hidden vital — and incriminating — information: a journal detailing the criminal activities of the Hutt families. Ziro makes another daring escape with the help of his estranged (and strange) lover, Sy Snootles. Bane is back on the Hutt’s trail — but he’s not the only one. The Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos need to find him too. A chase through the swamps of Nal Hutta leads the pursuers to Ziro’s enormous mother, Mama the Hutt, who points them to Teth. It is here, in the secret grave of Ziro’s father, that the fugitive Hutt has hidden the diary. When he retrieves it, Snooty reveals her true spots. She’s a deadly woman scorned and a bounty hunter for hire!"
The Moment: Obi-Wan and the spymaster Jedi( Master) Quinlan Vos team up and they face-off against the likes of the shifty bounty hunter Bane and interact with the slimy, shady notorious Hutt clan.
Why It’s Memorable: Obi-Wan. I just love his character development in the Clone Wars. From his brotherhood relationship being flushed out with Anakin to the display his mad skills as a warrior, dealing with loss at the hands of Maul ( much more on that later), and now teaming up with a wild-card Jedi, he shows just how versatile and rich his character truly is.
Speaking of that wild-card, Quinlan Vos, we don’t get much of him in canon, but when we do, its some of the best story-line plots that the Clone Wars provides. In the actual Star Wars timeline, we see Quinlan briefly undercover on Tatooine, in this episode The Hunt For Ziro, and then in the Dark Disciple Clone Wars arc (more to come, stay tuned).
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
We do know that he was once the Master of Aayla Secura, but this is really when we see him in action. This moment makes you want more of Vos and we hope to see more Clone Wars ( and maybe post Order 66?) of this troubled Jedi Master.

37. R2-D2 and R3-S6 duel to the death
Episode: Season 1 Episode 7: Duel of the Droids
"Episode Summary: Anakin, Ahsoka and replacement droid R3-S6 embark on a dual rescue/sabotage mission when they discover R2-D2 is being held at General Grievous’ secret enemy listening post, Skytop Station."
The Moment: R2-D2 has vital information in his memory storage that Darth Sidious desperately seeks to acquire. He entrusts that task to the cyborg General Grievous, who holds the blue droid captive. Anakin, Ahsoka, and a Separatist spy droid, with very bad intentions, then rescue the captive R2, and R3 accidentally reveals that he is up to no good. R2 is able to take care of R3 and escapes the General with the help of Anakin and Ahsoka, and definitely no with no thanks from R3.
Why It’s Memorable: More R2-D2 is always a very good thing. On the surface, this episode looks to be just a fun filler story, but there is actually more than meets the eye here.
The bravery, once again, of the dynamic duo of Anakin and Ahsoka is on display. They do whatever it takes to save their droid and view R2 as more of a friend, but a companion. This is a rarity for most Jedi, who do not form attachments to their droids( or other things), but Anakin and Ahsoka prove why they are two of a kind.
R2 is my favorite droid in Star Wars and he shows here why he is not to be messed with. His superiority over a formidable opponent in R3, once again, displays his status as the coolest droid in the galaxy.
"YOU HOLD ONTO FRIENDS BY KEEPING YOUR HEART A LITTLE SOFTER THAN YOUR HEAD"

36. Aurra Sing attempts to assassinate Senator Amidala
Episode: Season 3 Episode 7: Assassin
"Episode Summary: Tasked to protect Senator Padmé Amidala during a political mission to Alderaan, Padawan Ahsoka Tano is plagued by recurring visions of recently-deceased bounty hunter, Aurra Sing. Unable to clear her mind, Ahsoka worries that the stress of conflict is finally getting to her until her visions indeed prove prophetic. Padmé narrowly avoids death when Aurra Sing attempts to assassinate her. Together, Padmé and Ahsoka trap the hunter, and Ahsoka discovers the true villain behind the plot to kill Padmé: the incarcerated gangster, Ziro the Hutt."
The Moment: Ahoska and Padme both show their strength when a diplomatic mission on Alderaan goes wrong and end up preventing the Senator from an assassination attempt( that sounds familiar) by Aurra Sing.
Why It’s Memorable: More lore of how the Force works, with Ahsoka having visions, like her Master Anakin before( and after) her. Always in motion is the future and Ahoska also has to use her brain to prevent Aurra from killing the Senator from Naboo. We also see this Force vision style (or ones close to it) with Anakin, Ezra from Rebels, Luke in The Empire Strikes Back, and the scavenger Rey in The Force Awakens.
This moment also displays that Aurra is one legit bounty hunter, with the ability to infiltrate top-notch security.
Did you know she also made her debut in The Phantom Menace, just like Quinlan Vos?
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
Also, Padmé going to Alderaan was not lost on me. The fact that Leia, her future daughter, grows up in this very world after her own death just is so sad. I also imagine what the dynamic of having a happy Anakin, Padmé, Luke, and Leia under one roof would have been like. Just imagine how powerful Luke (and even Leia) would have been under the Jedi instruction of the Chosen One and also the wonderful Padmé

35. Clone training on Kamino
Episode: Season 3 Episode 1: Clone Cadets
"Episode Summary: Five headstrong clones struggle to complete their training on Kamino. These cadets — Hevy, Cutup, Droidbait, Fives and Echo — seem to be a “bad batch” and are unable to work as a team. As Shaak Ti and drill instructors Bric and El-Les debate the cadets’ fate, the clones learn to work together and accept their destiny as soldiers."
The Moment: The formation of Domino Squad, which later becomes one of the top ARC trooper units in the Republic, begin their training on the isolated planet of Kamino. Jedi Master Shaak Ti oversees their extensive training, with the assistance of two bounty hunters. With major challenges during their final evaluations, Domino Squadron rises above their trials and prove why they become the best of the best later on.
Why It’s Memorable: 99’s. That two digit number is enough to bring the tears back( we will learn why later on). The introduction of the failed and aged clone is one that will stay with us forever. Even though he never had the chance to be a soldier due to his defects, he brings out the best in these shinnies, inspiring them to pass their trials when they are doubted and faced with adversity.
This group of five clones later becomes a major staple within the Clone Wars series, where we empathize with their triumphs, failures, tragedies, and intense battles spread-out for the six seasons of the show.

34. Zillo beast on the loose on Coruscant
Episode: Season 2 Episodes 18-19: The Zilo Beast & The Zilo Beast Strikes Back
"Episode Summary: Desperate to turn the tide of a fierce battle on Malastare and win a strategic alliance with the Dugs, Chancellor Palpatine orders the Jedi to drop the Republic’s newest super-weapon, an untested electro proton bomb. Unfortunately, the bomb’s blast awakens an ancient and fearsome Zillo Beast, a monster of legendary size and ferocity. Now the Jedi must contain this deadly creature despite the interference of the bloodthirsty Dugs, who have their own agenda. Per Palpatine’s order, Republic forces transport a fearsome Zillo Beast back to Coruscant for scientific study. Eager to extract the beast’s secrets for military gain, Palpatine orders his lead scientist to examine, and subsequently, kill the monster. Filled with pain and anger, the Zillo Beast escapes from the lab and begins devastating the city. Soon, Anakin, Padmé, and Palpatine find themselves pursued by the beast while the Jedi fight to contain it. In a climactic showdown, the Jedi are faced with having to save the lives of millions of innocents on Coruscant by destroying the Zillo Beast, the last of its kind."
The Moment: This wild beast from Malastare does major damage throughout the Republic’s capital city of Coruscant, but is later detained, used as an experiment piece by Chancellor Palpatine
Why It’s Memorable: GODZILLA. This is the Star Wars version of the famous beast that ran rampant in Japan in several movies dating back many years. It’s even in the name of the wild animal “zillo” ( God “zilla”) there you go, you are welcome.
This two-episode arc was a lot of fun, while it also exposed Palpatine for the menace that he would reveal to the galaxy later on.

33. Asajj hunts down her former Master
Episode: Season 3 Episode 12: Nightsisters
"Episode Summary: Troubled by Asajj Ventress’ growing prowess with the dark side of the Force, Darth Sidious commands Count Dooku to eliminate her. But Ventress survives Dooku’s assassination attempt, and the jilted former apprentice vows to take revenge, enlisting the aid of her kinswomen — the mystical Nightsisters — in her sinister scheme. Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters, veils Asajj and her fellow assassins in a cloak of invisibility, and they infiltrate Dooku’s palace on Serenno. Though they fail to kill the Count, their use of captured Jedi lightsabers leads Dooku to mistakenly believe that the Jedi have tried to kill him. Interested in protection, he requests a new apprentice from Mother Talzin."
The Moment: Asajj Ventress attempts to kill her former Master Count Dooku, but her valiant attempt fails.
Why It’s Memorable: The bad-assery of Count Dooku is displayed in full-effect here. The Sith Lord is not only outnumbered about 12-1, but he is also (temporarily) blinded during the duel and is still able to fend off these crafty witches.
Also seeing the luxurious estate of his homeworld of Serenno is always really cool. Dooku gave up a life of self-sacrifice to return to prestige and on a quest to gain power through the Sith
The emotional element of this moment is not lost on me, however; with the depths of what Ventress is dealing with here. Her Master, who she looked up to and aspired to be like, turns on her. Even Dooku was apprehensive of the request of his own Master, Sidious, who is the one who orders the command when Dooku realizes that its a matter of life and death for himself. Sidious sensed that Ventress had become too powerful and hinted at the fact that Dooku was planning to betray him, which is in-fact reasonable since treachery is the way of the Sith.

32. Boba Fett seeks vengeance
Episode: Season 2 Episode 20: Death Trap
"Episode Summary: Determined to kill Jedi Master Mace Windu, young Boba Fett poses as a clone cadet and sneaks aboard a Jedi cruiser to plant a bomb in Windu’s quarters. But Boba’s plan goes awry when the blast fails to kill Mace and, suddenly, every clone aboard is looking for the saboteur. Boba destroys the ship’s reactor to create a distraction and, soon, the entire cruiser begins to break apart. Unaware that Boba is the culprit, Boba’s new cadet comrades save his life but is he too obsessed with revenge to do the same for them?"
The Moment: Even while “undercover” Boba displays his own skills in combat when put to the test. Even though Boba misses his chance at killing Windu, another opportunity will present itself later on.
Why It’s Memorable: He’s back! Earlier we discussed another encounter involving these two adversaries, with this one taking place well before those events.
Boba is put in a situation where he has to betray his brothers in order exact revenge, even though he is hesitant to put them in harm’s way. This shows that the young clone does have a sense of honor, but his blood thirst for Windu outweighs his conscience. This also shows the development of that very code of honor that he later officially implements, one of justice, but of also fairness as well.
However; Boba sees himself as superior to the other clones, since he’s not only an unmodified version of the original host, but also spent valuable time with the now deceased Jango Fett. That later comes into play when Boba is older, when he develops a superiority complex even among fellow bounty hunters. Darth Vader does take notice of Boba and his skills, so maybe his views of himself are warranted.

31. Duchess Satine and Obi-Wan have a complicated past
Episode: Season 2 Episode 13: Voyage of Temptation
"Episode Summary: Duchess Satine travels from Mandalore to Coruscant on a diplomatic mission, with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and a team of troopers to defend her. As her luxurious star-ship, Coronet, makes its way through hyperspace, the Jedi must stop several assassination attempts, and Anakin discovers that Obi-Wan and the Duchess have a history together."
The Moment: Kenobi reunites with his former lover, the one who he almost gave up his Jedi vows for during his Padawan days when Satine travels to Coruscant.
Why It’s Memorable: I love how Anakin teases Obi-Wan about Satine, Kenobi’s former lover, after he hears the news of their past. It’s a nice throwback to when Obi-Wan is telling Anakin to relax in Attack of the Clones, giving him heat, for having the same feelings. Such a cool moment and connection there!
I also love the playful “hate” Obi-Wan and Satine give one another for their differing views on war and politics. We all know that they are just teasing and flirting with one another. We see you working there, Obi-Wan!
One thing that is displayed by Kenobi is his true heart as a Jedi. No matter how much pain he takes or no matter what situation he is in, he always puts the interests of the Jedi first.
He forsake a relationship with his lover, Satine. He doesn’t allow anger to control him when Maul terrorizes him for years and years, even after the Clone Wars. In-fact, he ends up showing pity and remorse to the man when they meet again many years after the Clone Wars. Kenobi even fights and defeats Anakin on Mustafar, choosing his Jedi duty over his friendship. That is displayed in this moment and story arc as well.

30. Anakin’s brave heroics
Episode: Season 1 Episode 13: Jedi Crash
"Episode Summary: Anakin and Ahsoka arrive at a pitched sky battle to help besieged Jedi General Aayla Secura. Anakin is gravely injured in the fight. Aayla and Ahsoka, along with the now-wounded Anakin, Rex, and the surviving clones, crash land on the uncharted grass-covered planet, Maridun. Forced to leave Anakin behind in order to save him, Aayla teaches Ahsoka why the Jedi have no personal attachments. They make their way to a Lurmen village. Their ruler, Tee Watt Kaa, explains that they’re pacifists in this war and are not aligned with either side. Hesitant to have anything to do with the Jedi, Tee Watt Kaa agrees to help save Anakin’s life."
The Moment: While in battle with Separatists forces, Anakin realizes he must sacrifice himself to save the others with him; including Captain Rex, Ahsoka, and Jedi Master Aayla Secura. Anakin uses the Force to hold off a massive explosion, but severe injuries himself in the process. Ahsoka does save Anakin while he unconscious, but they crash-land on the world of Maridun.
Anakin is unable to fight at full strength when the Lurmen natives are compromised by the Separatists, but Ahsoka and Aayla pick up the slack in defeating their foes.
Why It’s Memorable: The power of Anakin Skywalker. Being able to use to Force to hold of an explosion of that magnitude is incredible. The sacrifice of Anakin Skywalker. His reckless nature does benefit others, especially in situations like these, because he will risk his life to save those in need.
A lesson learned in this battle is one of neutrality. The Lurmen people refuse to join the Jedi’s conflict with the Separatists but are pulled into the battle anyways, teaching us the lesson that eventually in battle or conflict you will have to take sides.
Ahsoka, with the wisdom of Aayla, learns the dangers in attachment to her Master, which the Jedi Master Aayla once struggled with herself. We eventually discover that Aayla was once the Padawan learner of Quinlan Vos, which is a story I hope we get in detail within the new canon.

29. The bad-batch
Episode: The Bad Batch– Star Wars: The Clone Wars story reel
"Episode Summary:After repeated setbacks on the planet Anaxes, an elite clone squad is deployed to investigate the Separatist tactical advantage. Led by Commander Cody and Captain Rex, this special unit, called the Bad Batch, infiltrates Admiral Trench’s cyber center to steal a strategic algorithm capable of predicting the Republic’s every move. What our heroes found was a live signal from the ARC trooper known as Echo, a clone long believed to be dead"
The Moment: Fives, a clone who was once lost and thought dead, is alive and not well, not at all. The Separatist Admiral Trench has been using Fives as a way to generate clone algorithms to defeat the Republic in many battles. The long-lost clone is rescued by his comrades but is very badly injured and despaired.
Why It’s Memorable: It was so good to see the lost clone, Fives alive, but man was he in terrible shape. The state of Fives displays how ruthless the Separatists are, which is a reflection of their leadership of two Sith Lords, Sidious and Dooku.
Seeing Admiral Trench still alive displays his sneaky and hard-to-kill nature and reminds me of why I hate the guy so much( take that as a compliment, Admiral!).
I also enjoyed the love and sacrifice the clone brothers show for one another, so when they eventually become an agent of evil during the dreaded Order 66, fine moments like these make that event that more tragic.

28. Hondo captures Anakin, Obi-Wan, & Dooku
Episode: Season 1 Episode 11: Dooku Captured
"Episode Summary: During their own attempt to kidnap Count Dooku, Anakin and Obi-Wan discover that the Sith Lord has already been captured by pirates. Hondo Ohnaka and his gang of pirates hold Dooku captive in their den on Florrum, and hold him for ransom. It’s up to Anakin and Obi-Wan to see if the offer is too good to be true."
The Moment: Dooku is trapped in a cell with the two Jedi after he is captured by the pirate Hondo Ohnaka and his gang of pirates just like the two Jedi. The three must work together to escape, which they do, and the Count escapes the Jedi’s grasp once again.
Why It’s Memorable: Hondo displays that even though he provides comic relief a good deal of the time, he is a pirate you do not want to mess with, just ask the Sith and the Jedi. Seeing his crew at full strength during the Clone Wars makes me sad when we reach Rebels, set about 20 years later in the timeline, where we see Hondo all alone without his men and home planet.
There are a lot of fun moments when Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku are in a prison cell with one another. Anakin and Obi-Wan making wisecracks at the “old man” literally made me laugh out-loud a few times. This moment was a change of pace and something different, where the Jedi and the Sith are normally engaged in lightsaber combat when they meet on the show.

27. Anakin rescues Padme from Grievous
Episode: Season 1 Episode 4: Destroy Malevolence
"Episode Summary: Padmé Amidala and C-3PO are taken hostage by General Grievous, leaving Anakin and Obi-Wan to save the Senator and complete the destruction of the Malevolence."
The Moment: Anakin rescues Padmé when her ship is taken hostage by the ruthless General Grievous
Why It’s Memorable: Padmé is one of the most underrated characters in all of Star Wars. Her strength in The Phantom Menace and her willingness to defend her people really stuck with me.
In Attack of the Clones, I thought that the novelization and deleted scenes did an excellent job of depicting Anakin and Padme’s relationship. George, why did you cut those scenes for 15 minutes of C-3PO flying around? Oh why?!
I really thought their relationship hit its stride in Revenge of the Sith, making the ending that more tragic and epic.
What really enhances those films is their relationship in the Clone Wars, displayed in this moment.
The two lovers rarely ever get a chance for some alone time, so they have to make due with moments like these. This episode is fun, romantic, and a good addition to the relationship of the two, displaying the playful and fun, but also skills, of the two. They make a great team and couple!
The Clone Wars also makes sure that Grievous and Anakin never meet face to face until Revenge of the Sith, but they have a fun way of having the two almost cross paths.

26. General Krell falls to the Dark Side
Episode: Season 4 Episode 8-10: The General, Plan of Dissent, & Carnage of Krell
"Episode Summary: General Krell orders Captain Rex and the clone troopers of the 501st Legion to conquer a heavily fortified Umbaran airbase, and will not accept anything less than victory. It is an almost certain suicide mission, unless the clones can use their ingenuity to defeat their new enemy. After the Republic conquers an Umbaran airbase, General Krell orders Rex and his men on towards the heavily fortified capital. Realizing there’s a better plan, several clone troopers disobey orders to carry out a rogue, covert operation. With two of his men facing execution for disobeying orders, Captain Rex must confront his overly aggressive commander, General Krell. Risking charges of mutiny, Rex must make a dark choice as the true face of the enemy emerges."
The Moment: We discover that Krell, in fact, has turned to the Dark Side, with ambitions to join Dooku as his new apprentice. Captain Rex and the 501st discover that the Jedi General had been betraying the clones to achieve that goal, leading to numerous clone deaths. The betrayed clones learn of these plans and confront the Jedi, who refuses to surrender. Dogma, one of Rex’s Clone-troopers, executes the rogue Jedi, ending the carnage.
Why It’s Memorable: I often forget that the two Sith Lords at this time are not the only two Dark Side users. We are reminded of that with Ventress, who is not a Sith, but an aspiring one. We also have the Nightsisters, and now we see a Jedi who has taken the bait of the Dark Side. We also experience that later on with Quinlan Vos, as well.
Even though Dogma was the one who pulled the trigger, Rex was the one who was faced with that decision first, where he refused to kill Krell. This moment planted the seed of doubt later on when he has faced the decision to kill his fellow Jedi during Order 66 and then refused like he did in this moment.

25. War on Ryloth
Episode: Season 1 Episodes 19-21: Storm Over Ryloth, Innocents on Ryloth, &Liberty on Ryloth
"Episode Summary: Ryloth, home world of the Twi’lek people, has been subjected to military occupation by the droid army of the Separatists, and surrounded by a blockade of Trade Federation battleships. While launching a surprise attack against the blockade, Ahsoka disobeys Anakin’s orders and ends up losing most of her squadron. Even though she’s emotionally rocked by this failure, Anakin helps her learn to persevere, placing her in charge of another risky attack. With the space blockade around Ryloth destroyed, Obi-Wan Kenobi must lead a small clone force into a droid occupied town to sabotage their anti-aircraft guns. Obi-Wan’s mission is complicated when he learns the town’s inhabitants are being used as living shields. A pair of clones in his platoon forges an unlikely friendship with a refugee Twi’lek girl, Numa, who’s been orphaned by the war. Through their relationship with her, the clones begin to understand the real cost of the war. The battle for the Twi’lek home-world of Ryloth rages as the Republic attempts to drive off the occupying droid army led by Separatist Leader, Wat Tambor. With his forces stretched thin, Mace Windu must convince Twi’lek freedom fighter, Cham Syndulla, to help him save the capital city from the droids’ destruction. Initially, the Twi’lek hero is hesitant to aid Mace, but ultimately realizes the Jedi can be trusted and joins with him to liberate the city — and ultimately the planet — in the climactic battle."
The Moment: Mace Windu displays his bravery and skills as a Jedi when he helps the world of Ryloth defeat a group of Separatists, led by Wat Tambor.
Why It’s Memorable: Mace Windu in all of his glory. In this moment, we see Mace Windu do things with the Force and with gravity that make Yoda look like a child. We later learn in Rebels and Lords of the Sith from Cham himself that Windu later had a Twi’lek folktale and song named after him. May you rest in peace Mace Windu, you B.A.M you.

24. Onderon sparks the early movement of the Rebel Alliance
Episode: Season 5 Episodes 3-5: Front Runners, Soft War, & Tipping Points
"Episode Summary: Supervised by Ahsoka, the Onderon rebels infiltrate the capital and carry out a series of strikes on targets throughout the city. As the Separatist-aligned king comes under increasing pressure to deal with the growing rebellion, the rebels choose a new leader. After a rebel attempt to rescue Onderon’s true king, Ramsis Dendup, an unexpected ally steps forward to halt Dendup’s execution and aid the rebel cause. As a full-scale revolt embroils Onderon, the rebels strike a decisive blow against the planet’s Separatist-aligned king. Unfortunately for the rebels, such victory comes at a high price."
The Moment: Saw Gerrera, the leader of this insurgent group on Onderon, suffers a great loss when his sister dies during this conflict with Separatist forces when Ahsoka’s attempt in rescuing her fails.
Why It’s Memorable: The formation of the early Rebel Alliance. Saw and his band of rebel start their rebellion against the Separatists, then later against the Empire, who both are trying to occupy the planet at one time or another.
The death of Stella turns Saw from a brave freedom fighter, into a ruthless insurgent when we see him again in Rebels and Rogue One. Once again like Anakin, good intentions can often lead to tragedy and darkness.

23. Breaking in the rookies
Episode: Season 1 Episode 5: Rookies
"Episode Summary: Alone on a distant outpost, clone officers Rex and Cody must inspire their rookie unit to believe in themselves to stave off a droid commando invasion."
The Moment: Echo and Fives are granted medals of valor, then Rex rewards the duo with an induction into the 501st Legion, arguably the best squad of clones in the galaxy, after protecting the outpost located in the Rishi Moon territory.
Why It’s Memorable: What a proud moment, since we have seen this group go through many trials already in former story arcs and have been with them since the beginning, so to speak. It’s absolutely gut-wrenching when Hevy sacrifices his life to save his comrades, allowing them to carry on to live another day.
It’s always fun when Rex and Cody are together, who at this point are as tight of a duo as they come. I’ve always wanted a story post Order 66 with these two and we may get it in Rebels, with Cody being teased already in the show. I know that Rex would have a few choice words for Cody betraying Obi-Wan and the Republic that’s for sure. Please make it happen Filoni!
I also loved how the episode begins with the clones bored out of their minds on a remote location. Being former military myself, I can relate to this struggle. I also know that things can change from calm to chaotic in just the snap of a finger and this happens here!

22. Savage Opress is introduced
Episode: Season 3 Episodes 13-14: Monster & Witches of the Mist
"Episode Summary: When Count Dooku calls upon the Nightsisters seeking a replacement for Ventress, she and her kin seize the opportunity to exact revenge. Ventress visits the far side of Dathomir and the males of the planet seeking the most brutal and powerful warrior among them. Talzin has Asajj secretly select a warrior from the distant Nightbrother village: Savage Opress. With the power of dark magic, Talzin transforms Savage into a hulking warrior ultimately loyal to Asajj. She then delivers Opress to Dooku, where he will serve as his secret Sith apprentice in a plot to overthrow Darth Sidious. Anakin and Obi-Wan, sent to track down the mysterious figure behind the deaths of several Jedi, soon find themselves on the trail of the monstrous apprentice that Ventress has created: Savage Opress, who has been trained in the ways of the Sith by Dooku. When Opress returns to Count Dooku after an unsuccessful assignment, Ventress strikes. With Opress at her side, she attacks Dooku. Opress’ loyalty is fleeting, however, and Dooku and Ventress discover that this new apprentice has a will of his own. When Savage returns to Mother Talzin, she gives him a new task: To seek the Outer Rim for his long-lost brother"
The Moment: Dooku trains Savage Opress in the ways of the Dark Side, after receiving Savage as a “Trojan Horse” like a gift from Mother Talzin of the Nightsisters, who are attempting to kill Dooku out of revenge or his betrayed of Ventress.
Why It’s Memorable: Sith training in full effect. Even though Savage is not a Sith, Dooku trains him with the intentions of betraying his own Master, which is the ways of the treacherous Sith Order. Dooku’s extreme power within the Force, displayed by the Dark Side here, adds to depth to his later defeat and death at the hands of Anakin, showing just how great of a feat Skywalker really achieved when he bested the man he would soon replace as the apprentice of Darth Sidious.
This episode is so rich and deep with the Force and its mystical aspects, as well as the cool characters who wield it. Well done Lucas and Filoni, well done!

21. Darth Maul is found by his long-lost brother, Savage Opress
Episode: Season 4 Episode 21: Brothers
"Episode Summary: The dark warrior Savage Opress is on a quest to find his long-lost brother. Could Darth Maul truly be alive, after more than a decade since his gruesome bisection at the blade of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Savage voyages into the depths of a twisted planet to find whatever became of the fallen Sith Lord."
The Moment: Savage eventually tracks down his long-lost brother, who we discover is the former Sith Lord Darth Maul, who is not the same as we found him in The Phantom Menace, where he is now fractured both mentally, physically, and in his soul.
Why It’s Memorable: We all weren’t the only ones who were totally shocked with Maul still being alive, just ask the Lucasfilm writing group. I mean, being cut in half and surviving is, well tough to do. I had my doubts, but the story group proved how wrong my assumptions were, with the Maul story arc being not only some of the best Star Wars moments ever but maybe in animated history.
This begins the relationship and partnership of two brothers who just met in adulthood, who were both robbed of that relationship when Sidious kidnapped Maul many years ago as a child.
Maul even references later on in Rebels (to Ezra) of how much his relationship with his brother meant to him, which we find out soon on how that is taken away from him once again.
This triggers also the revenge and hatred of Maul for Kenobi, which is a major theme not only in the Clone Wars but later on in his comic run and in Rebels.
Maul was found quoting ““Far above, far below. What once was great is rendered small”, which we find out later in the run(2017) that those words are Sith lessons and proverbs. Talk about paying attention to detail, Lucasfilm.

20. Force sensitive Younglings are hunted down by Darth Sidious
Episode: Season 2 Episodes 1-3: Holocron Heist, Cargo of Doom, & Children of the Force
"Episode Summary: Cad Bane has been hired by Darth Sidious to steal a Jedi holocron. The holocrons — data storage systems that can only be opened through the Force — are protected within a vault inside the Jedi Temple. Recruiting a changeling posing as a Jedi in his plot, Bane infiltrates the building’s security systems and leads Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka on a chase. Anakin and Ahsoka travel to the planet Devaron in pursuit of Cad Bane, who has stolen a Jedi holocron. Bane has captured Jedi Master Bolla Ropal, keeper of the Kyber crystal, which will reveal data on every known Force-sensitive child in the galaxy when combined with the holocron. Failing to force Ropal to open the holocron, Bane needs another Jedi. Capturing Ahsoka, the bounty hunter forces Anakin to open the holocron to save his Padawan. The holocron’s secrets revealed, Bane attempts an escape, but appears to be killed by a clone. Anakin, however, still senses Bane’s presence in the Force… The first step to correcting a mistake is patience.” Cad Bane has stolen a Jedi holocron which holds the secret locations of the galaxy’s Force-sensitive children. Bane is tasked by Darth Sidious to kidnap several of the children to train as Sith spies. On one such kidnapping attempt, Bane is captured by Anakin and Ahsoka and brought before Obi-Wan and Mace Windu to have his mind probed. Unable to resist the combined Force powers of the Jedi, Bane agrees to lead Kenobi and Windu to his hidden base while Anakin and Ahsoka venture to Mustafar to save the stolen children from Darth Sidious’ evil plot."
The Moment: Darth Sidious sets his plan in motion, with the skills of Cad Bane, in tracking down Force-sensitive younglings in order to experiment with them and keep the rest as Dark Side enforces, later using them to hunt down his interests across the galaxy.
Why It’s Memorable: For the first time on screen we see a Holocron. Yes, a freaking Holocron! This was the stuff of Legends in former books and tales but now has come to life. Ahsoka is correct when she says there’s always a bit of truth in legends!
We also see just how dark, twisted, and evil Sidious really is, by how he disposes of and uses these young ones. This moment also reveals that these Force-sensitive kiddos later would become the Dark Side Inquisitors of the Empire ( well the ones the Dark Lord didn’t kill, that is).
We also get to see Mustafar, where many of these Jedi hopefuls go to die, which now has a rich history within the entire Star Wars canon. More Mustafar Lucasfilm, keep those stories coming!

19. Kenobi & Hondo team up against the Sith wannabes
Episode: Season 5 Episode 1: Revival
"Episode Summary: The dark warrior Savage Opress is on a quest to find his long-lost brother. Could Darth Maul truly be alive, after more than a decade since his gruesome bisection at the blade of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Savage voyages into the depths of a twisted planet to find whatever became of the fallen Sith Lord."
The Moment: Maul and Savage continue extending chaos throughout the galaxy when they attempt to seduce Hondo’s men, which is short-lived when they betray Maul and go back to their fearless leader. The pirate crew and Kenobi are able to shoot down Maul and Savage’s ship, but the two brothers escape into space via a pod, where we will catch up with those two troublemakers at a different moment of time.
Why It’s Memorable: The funniest line in all of the Clone Wars was uttered in this episode with Hondo Ohnaka:
"Maul: Filth, you will pay for your insolence. Hondo: Insolence! We are pirates! We don’t even know what that means. Open fire!"
Kenobi’s strength is also showcased, where he is able to slice off Savage’s arm and best Maul in the process by fending him off, allowing he, Hondo (and his crew) to escape. Kenobi has mad skills, ya’ll! This shows that Maul has much to learn and his over-confidence, which we see throughout his career, is always his undoing. Maul is like that Greek god Sisyphus who is cursed with the fact of nearly making it to the top and peak of the mountain to obtain glory and power, then always following back to the bottom when he gets oh so close every-time. Rinse and Repeat, Maul.

18. Yoda learns the path of immortality
Episode: Season 6 Episodes 11-12: Voices & Destiny
"Episode Summary: Yoda is deeply unsettled when he hears something from beyond the grave: the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn. Knowing that it is impossible for a Jedi to retain his identity after death, the Jedi Council begins to worry that Yoda may be corrupted by the influence of the dark side. Determined to find answers, Yoda escapes the Jedi Temple to follow the disembodied voice. Letting the Force guide him, Yoda voyages into the heart of the galaxy to an ancient world that is one of the wellsprings of the Force and the source of midi-chlorians. Yoda undergoes difficult trials administered by the Five Priestesses, mysterious Force-wielders who hold the secret to immortality."
The Moment: Yoda, with the help of Anakin Skywalker, is able to escape the Jedi medical facility after a strange occurrence within the Force. Yoda, with Anakin’s droid R2-D2, takes a long adventure which brings them to the Unknown Regions of space, where he encounters ancient and mystic Force-wielders. There he learns what he later is able to achieve in becoming a Force ghost and one with the Force.
Why It’s Memorable: Qui-Gon is back! Voiced once again by Liam Neeson, the voice of the long gone Jedi, who speaks to Yoda and guides him on a quest in achieving true immortality. We even get to see Yoda and R2 visit Dagobah, where he faces his own trials in the cave, which Luke later does in The Empire Strikes Back.

17. Ventress is betrayed by her Master
The Moment: While recovering from her assassination attempt at the hands of her former Master, Asajj has a vision of her past and what lead her to that exact moment in time. Her mother (Talzin) uses some old Nightsister magic to restore her back to health.
Why It’s Memorable: I’m not sure what is in the water and within the witch-magic on Dathomir, but boy do I want a taste of that! That power source was able to turn a skilled warrior in Savage into an unstoppable force of evil, repair a broken and derangement Maul, and also restore Asajj, making her more powerful in the process.
In her Force vision, we see that Asajj was once a Jedi padawan but then lost her Master at an adolescent age when he was killed by a bounty hunter. That loss opened her up to the Dark Side and shows that she was more a victim than a villain, much like Vader and Maul.
The betrayal of Asajj by Dooku shifts her down a different trajectory that was unexpected for the Sith hopeful. This begins her path towards family ties, life as a bounty hunter, finding true love, and ultimately being redeemed back to the light.

16. Ahsoka is enslaved on Trandosha
Episode: Season 3 Episodes 22-23: Padawan Lost & Wookiee Hunt
"Episode Summary: Ahsoka and a group of abducted younglings find themselves trapped on a Trandoshan moon, prey in an elaborate and cruel hunt. The forlorn younglings have lost all hope, despite the best efforts of their spirited leader, Kalifa. Ahsoka rallies them to defend themselves and strike back against the Trandoshan, an effort with deadly consequences As Ahsoka and her youngling allies struggle to evade the Trandoshan hunters, their efforts receive an unexpected boost when a new captive — Chewbacca the Wookiee — arrives. Chewie scrounges parts from a wrecked Trandoshan slave ship, assembling a communicator to send out a distress signal. Help arrives in the towering, shaggy form of Wookiee warriors led by General Tarfful. Freed from captivity, Ahsoka returns to the Jedi Temple and is reunited with Anakin Skywalker."
The Moment: Ahoska and Chewbacca show their bravery against their slave Trandoshan foes. Ahsoka discovers a former Jedi Padawan, inspiring bravery in the Force user.
Why It’s Memorable: Chewie! Our beloved Wookiee makes his only appearance in Clone Wars, but man is it a good one. We see the brute strength, braveness, and tenacity that gave him the reputation of pulling people’s arms out of their sockets.
Showing the struggle between the Wookiees and their neighbors of Trandosha is one that I’ve been waiting to see on screen for a long time. I knew that Bossk and his reptilian species were tough, but man is they nasty.
The partnership grown from this story arc sets up possible future material with the Wookiee and Togruta duo! Can you say an Ahoska part II novel, please?
Ahsoka shows her leadership skills in inspiring a group of younglings, a foreshadowing of her future role within the Rebel Alliance.

15. Maul sets his plans in motion seeking revenge against Kenobi and Sidious
Episode: Season 4 Episode 22: Revenge
"Episode Summary: Savage and Maul, now reunited, pursue Obi-Wan Kenobi in search of revenge, and the Jedi Knight finds himself forced to unite with a surprising ally to defend against the deadly siblings."
The Moment: Asajj and Obi-Wan, former foes, team up against Maul and Savage, where they escape the Dark Side pair.
Why It’s Memorable: I was almost as surprised at that pairing of Asajj and Obi-Wan as I was when Maul appeared alive in the episodes just prior to it. This also hints at the things to come when Ventress joins forces with the Jedi Order to seek out revenge against her former Master, Dooku.
When Maul appears in the flames and reveals himself to Obi-Wan, I got chills. Maul’s hatred for Obi-Wan is shown here and the same fuel that kept him alive after he was humbled by the Jedi on Naboo 10 years before.
I also enjoyed the moment with the usual flirty banter of Kenobi and Ventress, as well as when Obi-Wan had to use one of her red lightsabers, which he sarcastically remarked wasn’t his color. Kenobi escapes the clutches of Maul, for the time being, but the former Sith will exact his revenge at a later date, which we will see later on.

14. The lair of General Grievous is introduced
Episode: Season 1 Episode 10: Lair of Grievous
"Episode Summary: Jedi Master Kit Fisto and his former Padawan, the Mon Calamari Jedi Nahdar Vebb, track escaped prisoner Nute Gunray to a remote world. Following Nute into a mysterious den filled with strange creatures, weapons, and war-time artifacts, the Jedi discover it is the trap-laden lair of General Grievous! Learning that Count Dooku has led the Jedi there in order to punish Grievous for his recent failures, the General is determined to prove his abilities and destroy the Jedi. Kit and Nahdar, along with a contingent of clones, must now fight their way past Grievous and his caretaker droid A-4D to avoid being caught in General’s evil clutches forever."
The Moment: Kit Fisto teaches his former Padawan the lesson of patience, but he fails when his former Padawan gives into anger. Fisto is a match for Grievous and escapes the dreaded moon that houses the cyborg.
Why It’s Memorable: A very dark and rad moment is when we venture into the secret layer of Grievous. I didn’t realize the cyborg had so many replacement pieces for his mechanical parts, but it does make sense. I wish we would also go deeper into the lightsabers, and more specifically, of the Jedi he killed to obtain them.
Kit Fisto is what I call the silent assassin. A man of few words, but a smile made of gold, this calm Jedi Master put the monster Grievous in his place, but at great cost.
His former Padawan, Nahdar, gives into anger, and it costs him his life, but more importantly prior to that, his Jedi principles. Fisto is the ultimate Jedi and one who deserves more screen-time and maybe even a future featured comic.

13. Maul & Savage form an alliance with Deathwatch
Episode: Season 5 Episode 14-15: Eminence & Shades of Reason
"Episode Summary: Savage and Maul forge an alliance with Death Watch to target a common enemy: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Backed by the criminal underworld, the Sith and Death Watch launch an attack on Mandalore."
The Moment: Maul and Savage slowly and surely begin gaining power underground through a vast number of criminal networks, then form an alliance with the Death Watch who is an exiled group from Mandalore.
Why It’s Memorable: This episode had Game of Thrones vibes all throughout it. So much betrayal, conquest, and just plain savagery. Maul knows what it takes to accomplish that task, being trained by the most powerful being in the galaxy in Darth Sidious. Now Maul is the one who is playing the role as mastermind and leader, and he is quite good enough, to the point of gaining his former Master’s attention, which we will see later.
Going back to Mandalore and seeing the Death Watch, pupated by Maul, brainwashing the planet is a good reminder to always keep your guard up with what’s going on in your culture.
Maul also puts Savage in his plays and reminds him that he is the Master and that Savage is the learner. When things begin to take form, Maul declares himself the true Lords of the Sith, which he finds out later, is a vain utterance.

12. The Chosen One
Episode: Season 3 Episodes 15-17: Overlords, Altar of Mortis, Ghosts of Mortis
"Episode Summary: A mysterious force draws Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka to a distant planet, and its inhabitants — a family of exceptionally powerful Force-wielders — in an attempt to determine whether Anakin is truly the Chosen One. The patriarch of this family, known only as the Father, has spent ages maintaining the balance between his Daughter, who is strong with the light side of the Force, and his Son, who aligns with the dark. The Father reveals his days are numbered, and he seeks Anakin to take his place as the fulcrum of this balance. A series of tests proves that Anakin is capable of controlling both offspring, as the Father does, but Skywalker refuses to take the Father’s place. Before the Jedi can leave Mortis, the Son takes Ahsoka captive in an attempt to entice Anakin into joining him to use their combined strength to overpower his Father and Sister. To this end, the Son casts Ahsoka under the spell of the dark side. Meanwhile, the Father attempts to stave off a disastrous showdown between his children and maintain the Force’s increasingly precarious balance on the planet. Fearing that the Son may be unstoppable, the Daughter does the forbidden by taking Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Altar of Mortis, wherein is kept the Dagger of Mortis, a weapon capable of killing a Force-wielder. The Son steals the weapon, and attempts to use it against his Father to steal his power and end his rule, but the Daughter sacrifices herself, placing herself in front of the blade. The Jedi remain stranded on Mortis, and the Son, aligned with the dark side of the Force, renews his efforts to convert Anakin as the Jedi prepare for a decisive confrontation. Anakin is stunned by images of his dark future. The Son promises him the power to avert this destiny. The Father recognizes that the Son has broken the rules of time. He wipes Anakin’s memory of these future visions, and steals the Mortis Dagger to end the conflict. The Father impales himself, thus preventing the Son from stealing his power. The Son, stunned by this, is run through by Anakin. With all three Force-wielders destroyed, the imbalance in the Force disappears on Mortis. The three Jedi are transplanted back to the galaxy proper, apparently at the moment that they disappeared."
The Moment: Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka are mysteriously taken to the Unknown Regions, where they visit a planet called Mortis, which is very strong in the Force. There, Anakin learns that he is to maintain balance in the galaxy like the Father does with his Son and Daughter on that very planet.
Why It’s Memorable: I have to admit, this episode is so confusing. I’ve watched it so many times and have even listened to interviews with Lucas and Filoni and I am still as lost at what is going on as ever. I do know that it symbolizes Anakin’s role in balancing the Force, in some way.
Ahsoka’s experience in the world has a connection to her current fate in Rebels, but I’m not exactly sure how. Let’s hope we find out soon. Or better yet, maybe we aren’t meant to know and that’s the beauty of it!

11. A Clone defector on Saleucami
Episode: Season 2 Episode 10: The Deserter
"Episode Summary: General Grievous is shot down over Saleucami and crash lands in the wilderness. Obi-Wan leads an expedition to find the droid general. Rex is injured during the search, and must recover in a local farmer’s barn, but he is shocked to discover the farmer is a clone deserter."
The Moment: Rex and clone deserter Cut Lawquane form an interesting alliance when war comes to this once peaceful planet.
Why It’s Memorable: This episode is another moment and path where Rex is learning about life after being a Clone-trooper. Also another reminder that he has a choice with his life decisions and doesn’t have to follow orders that cause him to disobey his sense of right and wrong.
Rex’s attitude with his clone brother who had left the war, was quite interesting, with accusations of turning on his brothers and the Republic. Come to find out, it will be the clones who are the traitors later on. Oh, the irony.
It’s also interesting seeing the offspring a T’wilek and clone. Those kids are adorable and the sweetest younglings ever. Throughout the entire episode, I thought they weren’t going to make it out alive, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Thanks to Rex and their father, they live to be safe and sound.
A nice little Easter egg from Revenge of the Sith is that Saleucami is where Quinlan Vos ends up going towards the end of the Clone Wars. It is still unknown to this day whether he survived the purge. Maybe at some point, he seeks the refuge of the clone deserter and his family. That would make for an epic story!

10. The Citadel escape
Episode: Season 3 Episode 20: Citadel Rescue
"Episode Summary: After their ship and only way off the planet is destroyed, Anakin and Obi-Wan must lead the escaped prisoners across Lola Sayu’s perilous landscape as Plo Koon commands a task force of four cruisers and their fighters through the Separatist defenses in a daring rescue. Even Piell is ravaged by anooba tracking beasts, but before he dies, he passes on his Nexus Routes coordinates to Ahsoka. When the survivors return to Coruscant, Ahsoka knows half the Intel, and refuses to disclose it to anyone but the Jedi Council, while Tarkin refuses to hand over his half to anyone other than the Chancellor."
The Moment: Jedi Master Piell perishes preserving vital Republic Intel, passing the task onto Ahsoka.
Why It’s Memorable: Once again, Ahsoka disobeys directives from her overseers, following the example of her Master, Anakin. Remember when Yoda says that a Jedi craves not adventure? Well, Ahsoka does and it nearly gets her team killed and compromises the mission. However; the Force is with her, as usual, and she makes the best out of an immature and poor decision. I think it was funny how she became the vital part of the mission she wasn’t supposed to be part of.
An alliance begins forming between Tarkin and the soon to be christened Darth Vader. Anakin earns his respect, but a rift takes root in Anakin of a grudge that later hinders their relationship in the future.

9. A Dark Side Acolyte
Novel: Dark Disciple
"Novel Summary: The only way to bring down the Sith’s most dangerous warrior may be to join forces with the dark side. In the war for control of the galaxy between the armies of the dark side and the Republic, former Jedi Master turned ruthless Sith Lord Count Dooku has grown ever more brutal in his tactics. Despite the powers of the Jedi and the military prowess of their clone army, the sheer number of fatalities is taking a terrible toll. And when Dooku orders the massacre of a flotilla of helpless refugees, the Jedi Council feels it has no choice but to take drastic action: targeting the man responsible for so many war atrocities, Count Dooku himself. Together, Ventress and Vos are the best hope for eliminating Dooku—as long as the emerging feelings between them don’t compromise their mission. But Ventress is determined to have her retribution and at last let go of her dark Sith past. Balancing the complicated emotions she feels for Vos with the fury of her warrior’s spirit, she resolves to claim victory on all fronts—a vow that will be mercilessly tested by her deadly enemy . . . and her own doubt."
The Moment: While undercover in an attempt to assassinate the Sith Lord Count Dooku, Vos falls in love with a new but dangerous ally in Ventress. Their mission then fails, but they find a love that will change their lives forever.
Why It’s Memorable: I won’t spoil the novel, but man is it good! Of course, like the comic Son of Dathomir featuring Maul, Dark Disciple was meant to be a Clone Wars episode, but Christie Golden did an amazing job of bringing the story to life.
I won’t spoil any more, go pick up and read the novel now!

8. Maul’s victory is short-lived
Episode: Season 5 Episode 16: The Lawless
"Episode Summary: Using Duchess Satine as bait, Darth Maul lures Obi-Wan into a trap."
The Moment: Maul vs Pre-Vizla. Maul and Savage vs. Darth Sidious. Enough said.
Why It’s Memorable: So much action and so many gems in this episode, creating multiple epic moments. Maul defeats Pre Vizla, who carries the Dark-saber, an ancient Mandalorian weapon with Jedi roots, until Maul overpowers him, beheads him, then takes the mantle as Mandalore as his prize. This isn’t your typical Saturday morning cartoon, folks!
The Dark-saber has a rich and deep history, all the way back about 1,000 years. The Jedi and Mandalorians have a heated rivalry in their past, to say the least. The Dark-saber, forged by Tarre Visla, has been a weapon that the Jedi and Mandalorians have fought over for years and years.Whoever takes possession of the ancient weapon by besting its previous owner in combat, which Maul does, the other Mandalorians will follow that person as their leader.
Maul then uses the weapon to exact his revenge on Obi-Wan, who was taken prisoner along with his former lover Satine, and Maul kills her in front of the Jedi Master, displaying one of the saddest moments in Star Wars history.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
Maul takes on his former Master, Darth Sidious, and gets completely owned. Not only does he get zapped by Force lightning, but his brother is killed by the Sith Lord right in front of the helpless Maul. The Zabrack’s plans of taking over the galaxy are ruined and the reestablishment of his family roots receives the same fate.
The ironic part is that Sidious travels to Mandalore with Maul’s own (former ship) the Sith Infiltrator the Schmitar, another slap in the face of Maul and painful reminder of what he lost during the duel against Kenobi, which was more than his legs, to be certain.

7. Yoda impresses King Katuunko
Episode: Season 1 Episode 1: Ambush
"Episode Summary: Jedi Master Yoda and three clone troopers — Jek, Thire, and Rys — must face off against Count Dooku’s dreaded assassin Ventress and her massive droid army to prove the Jedi are strong enough to protect a strategic planet and forge a treaty for the Republic."
The Moment: Yoda travels to the neutral system of Toydaria, where is able to gain the alliance of this world over his former apprentice Count Dooku.
Why It’s Memorable: There is a really cool moment in this episode and it’s easy to overlook if you aren’t paying attention. If you have read Lords of the Sith, there is a scene where Palpatine tells his Royal guards, which one happens to be a clone, to take off their helmets. Instead of encouraging the troopers, he uses it as a moment to taunt the man that Darth Vader used to be.
Rewind about 10 years back, Yoda has a group of clones remove their helmets, but teaches a completely different lesson. He tells them how important they are and their worth is more than just their identity as clones, telling them how intelligent and strong with the Force they are. I really enjoyed the contrast in the characters of Yoda and Palpatine that th e writers use. Yoda, who is full of goodness, and Palpatine, AKA Darth Sidious, who is just pure evil.
Yoda is able to easily disarm and embarrass Ventress, even making fun of her in the process, which I really enjoyed. Much to learn you still have, young one, and she really does. Keep in mind that Ventress is really powerful, enough to where Sidious views her as a potential threat. So the fact Yoda defeats her with ease, is really telling.

6. The mystery of (former) Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas is revealed
Episode: Season 6 Episode 10: The Lost One
"Episode Summary: A Jedi mission finds a lightsaber belonging to the long-dead Master Sifo-Dyas, prompting Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker to begin an investigation into his decade-old disappearance. This sparks Darth Sidious to order Darth Tyranus to clean up any loose ends that may lead the Jedi to discover the truth of the Sith conspiracy."
The Moment: The Jedi come very close to unraveling the plans of the Sith and their order 66 protocol, which Darth Sidious takes notice of, blaming his apprentice Count Dooku for the leak.
Why It’s Memorable: We finally get to see Sifo-Dyas on screen, well sort of. Did you that it was originally supposed to be Sidious who went to Kamino to order the clone army himself, but a typo in the script created this new idea in George Lucas’ head? Instead of changing the error, he just creates a new character. Man is Lucas creative and not afraid to take chances. It pays off here!
In an epic moment, Darth Sidious Force chokes Count Dooku, who happens to be far from his location, blaming him for this potential problem. Sidious is a complete savage, is he not? Dang!

5. 99’s last stand
Episode: Season 3 Episode 2: ARC Troopers
"Episode Summary: The Republic learns of an impending Separatist attack on Kamino, and Anakin and Obi-Wan hurry to the planet. After the Republic repulses the Separatists’ diversionary assault, the real attack begins. Asajj Ventress, General Grievous and an army of droids rise out of the oceans, bent on destroying Kamino’s clone production facilities. Rex, Cody, Fives and Echo lead the clones in a desperate defense of their home planet."
The Moment: Cornered during a deadly firefight, the clones (including the beloved old clone 99) are forced to work together in order to ensure the survival of their home planet. Heroic 99 gives his life to help his brothers.
Why It’s Memorable: One of the best parts of the Clone Wars series is that it develops and humanizes the characters of the clones. Old 99 has spoken a lot of truth into the lives of his brothers and played a pivotal role in the success of the Domino Squad. Having been labeled defective, 99’s desire to prove himself is palpable throughout his brief appearances on the show. The nature of his death was the writer’s way of honoring this long-held desire.
Which also makes wonder the true nature and character of Jango Fett. In Attack of the Clones, Fett is labeled and plays the role of a bad guy, but after seeing the clone’s bravery throughout the series, it makes me wonder if he is more honorable and good than I realized, with the same being true for his son Boba.

4. Darth Maul the true son of Dathomir
Comic: Son of Dathomir
"Comic Summary: Getting cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi and being rejected by his former Sithmaster Darth Sidious isn’t going to defeat Darth Maul. In fact, it only makes him mad enough to take on the galaxy, with an army of Mandalorians. With his Shadow Collective army stalled, Darth Maul calls on Mother Talzin for help and is sent reinforcements-the deadly Nightbrothers! Maul is ready again to take on the Separatist droid army, Count Dooku, and General Grievous, in a trio of simultaneous battles! Darth Maul has captured Darth Sidious’s new apprentice! Mother Talzin and Maul attempt to sway Count Dooku to their cause, revealing surprising facts about Maul’s past. But an attack by an elite Jedi strike force throws everyone’s plans into chaos! Count Dooku is possessed by the spirit of Mother Talzin! Darth Maul’s Shadow Collective is shattered! The Separatists attack! And Darth Sidious himself enters the fight!"
The Moment: Maul escapes his former Master’s grip with the help of Almec and a band of Mandalorian warriors. After a number of battles with Dooku, Grievous, and finally with his previous master, Maul finally gets a chance at redemption and revenge against his former teacher. He is over-matched, however; and needs the sacrifice of his mother Talzin to escape the clutches of the vile Sidious once again.
Why It’s Memorable: Maul and Dooku get to interact for the first time. You see Maul’s jealousy and Dooku’s inferiority, which fuels Maul’s rage towards his former Master’s replacement for him.
We also get four Dark Side users, A Jedi enforcer, and a legion of Mandos. Just think, we almost saw this arc on screen in the Clone Wars, before the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney. What a shame!
This comic is hard to find, but it’s worth tracking down if you can!

3. The younglings face adversity during their Jedi trials
Episode: Season 5 Episodes 6-7: The Gathering & A Test of Strength
"Episode Summary: Ahsoka escorts a group of younglings to Ilum, where they will learn from Yoda and undergo a crucial rite of passage: the construction of their lightsabers. They grapple with both physical and inner challenges as they face the dangerous task ahead of them. As the younglings return from Ilum with Ahsoka, their ship comes under attack by Hondo’s gang of pirates. The children must use ingenious and improvised traps to thwart the brigands."
The Moment: The younglings show their bravery in their quest for their own kyber crystals, as well as standing up to Hondo and his ruthless gang.
Why It’s Memorable: The Force works in mysterious ways and the same rings true for this group of younglings, who pace their kyber crystal trial in a way they were not anticipating. Hondo nearly takes their crystals and their lives, what a jerk, but Ahsoka shows here growing role as a leader, guiding the younglings to victory.
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
I also love when we see this group actually constructing their lightsabers, with the help of an ancient droid named Huyang, who was around when Grandmaster Yoda constructed his very first laser sword. I’m not sure why that story hasn’t been told yet but get on it Lucasfilm. I’m still holding out for a Yoda origins story, even though we’ve been told it’s not going to happen.

2. Yoda sees a vision of Darth Bane on Moraband
Episode: Season 6 Episode 13: Sacrifice
"Episode Summary: After many grueling trials, Yoda next travels to the ancient Sith home world of Moraband, where he must face an ancient evil determined to rule the galaxy"
The Moment: After completing his trials with the Priestesses, and with the Dark Side test within the cave on Dagobah, the Force, via Qui-Gon Jinn, takes him to the ancient Sith world of Moraband. Yoda faces his greatest test yet, when he encountered a vision of the power Sith Lord Darth Bane, then also a vision of the darkness to come with the execution of Order 66 and its aftermath.
Why It’s Memorable: This moment shows us many things. First off, that Yoda himself has much to learn, where he is taught that he does have darkness inside of him, just like anyone else, which is coming to terms with helps him moving forward on his Jedi path.
When Yoda visits the old tombs in the Valley of the Sith Lords, that brought me geek chills to the max. I read about this planet in Legends novels, but seeing this on screen brought it to a whole new level.
How cool was it to see Mark Hamill, AKA Luke Skywalker, voice a different aspect of the Force (Darth Bane) than we have grown accustomed too? Way to go Luke! Yoda is also given a view, but a cloudy one, into the future, preparing him for the dark times ahead with the coming of Order 66 and the ultimate revenge of the Sith.

1. Ahsoka walks away from the Jedi Order
Episode: Season 5 Episodes 18-20: The Jedi Who Knew Too Much, To Catch a Jedi, The Wrong Jedi
"Episode Summary: As the Republic military takes over the Temple bombing case, Ahsoka finds herself at odds with Admiral Tarkin. The fugitive Ahsoka escapes to the criminal depths of Coruscant. On trial for murder, Ahsoka faces her greatest challenge."
The Moment: Feeling betrayed, Ahsoka makes the brave and heart wrenching decision to leave the Jedi Order. Tarkin’s persistence and the Jedi’s lack of trust lead the aspiring Jedi Knight to make this difficult and gut-wrenching decision, which has dire and dark consequences, ultimately, for the galaxy.
Why it’s Memorable: The relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin is undeniably one of the best things about The Clone Wars series. The depth of their relationship makes this moment even more potent and moving. It also gives us further insight into Anakin’s character (specifically his anger with the Order).
Photo property of: Lucasfilm
As a fan, it is also heartening to see that in the face of hurt and betrayal she (unlike Anakin) chooses to leave the Jedi order instead of becoming embittered and falling to the Dark Side. This moment in her journey truly showcases the strength and dignity that makes her one of the most beloved characters in the Clone Wars series (and arguably the entire Star Wars Universe).
