Star Wars fan-art from ArtStation by Nicolas Siner
Star Wars Concept Art is beautiful, isn’t it? It’s so…artistic.
It’s what helps a movie gain more viewers, especially if the designs are intricate and well-thought-out art. Star Wars concept art has always been something un-earthly, which is what’s helped make the franchise so popular.
Some, of course, has been better than others. There are a few concept art pieces I feel should have been replaced with their unused counterparts.
Many Star Wars concept art pieces that went unused have been released over time, and trust me; you’ll see that some of them really should have been used, as listed below!
Padme confronts Anakin
Star Wars Concept Art: 1. Padme vs. Anakin Skywalker
This is a very drastic and different approach to the end of the original film where she was pleading Anakin Skywalker to not turn to his evil ways. Here, she’s rocking a blood-red cape. She has a much darker persona here.
This makes her look a lot more fierce rather than timid despite the fact that she was carrying twins. It’s almost twisted.
She looks like she’s ready to fight Anakin if she had to. Honestly, such an intense and twisted ending to their arc would have been really interesting to have seen.
You don’t know the power of the Dark Side!
Creepy Kylo Ren
Star Wars Concept Art: 2. A very…creepy Kylo Ren
While some may disagree, I personally quite like this look. Here, Kylo Ren seems a lot more…interested in his grandfather’s antics as he strokes his helmet. It feels more sinister. Like he’s personally connecting with his grandfather through that helmet.
It makes it look like Kylo Ren is taking the whole ‘family-bonding’ thing really seriously, especially since he’s known to be very curious about Vader.
Besides, his creepy-robot-metal-looking face looks wicked-cool.
Solo: A Star-Wars Story Concept Art
Star Wars Concept Art: 3. A Beautifully-Narrow Escape
Instead of what was shown in the movie, this art gives off a much more ‘icy’ tone. In Solo: A Star Wars Story, what we saw was the ship surrounded more by rock than this icy-type architecture. If this made the cut, it would have been visually, a lot prettier.
This cut looks a lot cleaner, too. The rocks don’t look so plain and the ice definitely gives it that ‘spine chill’ touch. Plus, blue makes everything look good.
A scene like this could have also amped up the hype for the movie too. After all, it’s visuals like this that excite the Star Wars fandom.
Luke’s Meditation Dome
Star Wars Concept Art: 4. Luke and His Meditation Dome
This piece was originally set to appear in The Last Jedi. Not only is it a stunning visual but it would’ve also provided a clarity that this is where Luke’s peace is. The architecture is familiar to the planet Ahch-To.
This is the closest thing in the Star Wars universe that can symbolize peace. It also would’ve been a nice area for Luke and Rey to train together.
It would’ve been nice to have seen this before he… died, y’know.

Star Wars Concept Art: 5. Ben Solo’s Inner Conflict
The 2-colored lightsaber would have been a first for the Star Wars franchise. The blue to represent the good left in him and the red his dark alter ego. It kind of depicts ideas of light/darkness or fire/water. They’re both opposites.
It is understandable, however, why they didn’t include this visual metaphor in the movies. It would’ve been too much for one movie.
Having his conflict be something mental rather than physical let his confused nature to grow more apparent and naturally.
I really would’ve loved to see the double colored-bladed saber, though.
Do I think these concept art pieces should have been featured in their movies? Yes.
But then again, not having these pieces in their movies shows how innovative Star Wars can be without them. I mean, they’ve been doing it for over 40 years. Still, I wouldn’t have minded seeing Luke have a meditation dome or the really icy Kessel escape in Solo.
Next: Revenge of the Sith, Vader mind-blowing secret
Perhaps concept art like this will encourage the Star Wars franchise on what they have to do now to revive their universe. Especially now since they’ve cut off all future solo movies, including the Boba Fett one.
Who knows, maybe we’ll see different adaptions of these particular Star Wars Concept Art Pieces in the Star Wars universe, one day.
