After over 30 years of mystery pertaining to whether or not the fan-favorite Star Wars character Boba Fett survived falling into the Sarlacc Pit during Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, that question was finally answered in season 2 of The Mandalorian.
While how he escaped specifically to this point remains unknown, Fett did indeed survive his fall and escaped the Sarlacc, after which, he spent five years living on Tatooine searching for his missing Mandalorian Armor.
The armor, which made its way into Din Djarin’s possession, was eventually retrieved by Fett, and he would go on to don it as he assisted Mando in rescuing the Child, Grogu, from the Empire.
Following the season two finale, a post-credits scene played of Boba Fett and his partner Fennec Shand breaking into Jabba’s Palace where he kills Bib Fortuna, Jabba’s former assistant and the acting crime boss, and seizes the throne for himself.
Following this, a teaser for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett was shown, and Disney confirmed that Boba would be receiving his own spin-off show, set concurrently with The Mandalorian timeline.
With the show set on the familiar planet of Tatooine five years after the events of Return of the Jedi — we also know it may be in the same timeframe as shows like The Mandalorian, of course, as well as Ashoka and the Rangers of the New Republic series.
As such, there is a lot of potential for a few familiar faces from Star Wars lore to make an appearance.
As the showrunners displayed in The Mandalorian, they are more than willing to bring in characters of old and new, in an effort to link their shows to existing lore. So with all that said, here are five Star Wars characters who may appear in The Book of Boba Fett.

1. Cobb Vanth
In the premiere episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian, the character of Cobb Vanth made his first appearance in live-action, played by Emmy-nominated actor Timothy Olyphant.
The character of Vanth served as the marshal for the small mining town Mos Pelgo, and when introduced, as in possession of Boba Fett’s armor, having originally purchased it from a group of Jawas several years prior.
Vanth teamed up with Din Djarin to defeat a krayt dragon that had been terrorizing the town, after which he gave the armor to Din as payment for helping destroy the beat, leading to Boba tracking him down in order to retrieve it.
Seeing as such a prominent actor was cast in the role of Vanth, that alone is enough to suggest he will make future appearances in the Star Wars franchise.
Vanth is presumed to still be living on Tatooine while Fett has seized control of the Hutt crime empire on the very same planet. In addition to the fact he once donned Boba’s armor, they have an additional link to each other from it.
Odds are, Cobb Vanth will likely make an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett in some form or another. However, whether or not he is introduced as an ally of Boba Fett or a foe remains to be seen.

2. Din Djarin/The Mandalorian
Seeing as The Mandalorian is currently the flagship series on Disney+, it would make a lot of sense for the showrunners to try and include its protagonist in some way.
Following the season finale of The Mandalorian, the future of the titular character, Din Djarin, is currently up in the air, so bringing him into The Book of Boba Fett could be a nice way to continue his story.
Throughout the first two seasons of his show. Din’s story arc has been that of protecting the Child (Grogu) and delivering him to a Jedi to be properly trained in the ways of the Force. Now that he has fulfilled his mission, what comes next for Din remains unknown.
One likely path for him is to join Bo-Katan in her quest to reclaim the planet Mandalore, as he is the new owner of the Darksaber, but another is that he may try to return to his old ways as a bounty hunter.
Prior to the events of the show, Djarin was a skilled bounty hunter. And seeing as he appeared to be uninterested in having anything to do with Mandalore, traveling the galaxy collecting bounties may be his first option following the end of his mission with Grogu.
However, without his old covert of Mandalorians and without a ship to travel in, he’d likely need help getting started again. Seeing as his old contact Boba Fett has taken over as a crime lord of Tatooine, he may turn to Fett for assistance.

3. Dengar
Originally appearing in Star Wars as one of the many bounty hunters Darth Vader recruited to track down Han Solo, Dengar has a storied lore in Star Wars Legends and would be an excellent inclusion in The Book of Boba Fett.
Originally from the planet Corellia (same as Han Solo), Dengar is another famous bounty hunter from the Galactic Civil War era, and like Bossk, has a prior connection to Boba Fett.
While not as deep as the history between Boba and Bossk, the two had worked together in the past on operations as a part of a syndicate of hunters called Krayt’s Claw, and the two can also be seen socializing together at Jabba’s Palace during Return of the Jedi before Luke Skywalker rescued Han Solo and destroyed Jabba’s sail barge.
While Fett was presumed dead following the destruction of Jabba’s barge, Dengar survived and continued on as an active bounty hunter in the years that followed.
As Dengar worked with the Hutts in the past, now that his old friend Boba is heading up their crime syndicate, it isn’t too far-fetched an idea that he could be brought in to work for Fett in the future.
While Dengar is a human, he would need to be recast if he were to be brought in for future episodes, which would be an excellent opportunity for Johnathan Banks to be folded into the world of Star Wars — as he has been one of the actors fans have wanted to take up the mantel for years.
The Book of Boba Fett is as good a place as any to finally pull the trigger on it.

4. Qi’ra
Last seen at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the character of Qi’ra may be an unorthodox inclusion, but one that does make a fair bit of sense in the right context.
Originally the love interest of Han Solo, Qi’ra was revealed to be a member of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate. And after the death of Dryden Vos, the crime lord Qi’ra worked for, she left to rendezvous with Darth Maul, the head of the syndicate.
Played by Emilia Clarke, the character of Qi’ra has not appeared in Star Wars since. And with no news of any sequels to Solo, whether or not she would appear again is up in the air.
However, if Boba Fett is going to be running his own crime empire on Tatooine, it would make a fair bit of sense for him to have dealings with other syndicates like Crimson Dawn. And with Maul deceased at this point in the Star Wars timeline, someone will have needed to take his place. Enter Qi’ra.
As she said in Solo regarding her life in the syndicate, “the object isn’t to win. It’s just to stay in it as long as you can.” With that logic, it isn’t unreasonable to assume that she never had an intention of leaving, and instead looked to rise to the top of it.
Beyond that, while her fate following the events of Solo remains unknown to this point, it’s entirely possible she is still alive and working with the syndicate, and if you digitally age up Emilia Clarke for it, she could very easily reprise the role for this time period.
Bringing back the familiar character such as Qi’ra to be a face of a rival Syndicate would be an interesting move in order to help flesh out the series and create more links to other Star Wars properties.
Beyond that, Emilia Clarke does have a certain amount of star power associated with her name, largely from her days as a member of the Game of Thrones cast, and bringing her into the series in some capacity would only help it.

5. Mayfeld
Another fan-favorite character introduced in The Mandalorian, the former imperial officer Mayfeld, played by Bill Burr, would be an excellent inclusion into the Book of Boba Fett.
A former Imperial soldier turned mercenary, Mayfeld was last seen in season 2 of The Mandalorian, where he was released from a New Republic prison to help Mando break into an imperial holdout and find the location of Moff Gideon’s starship — along with Boba.
After fighting their way out of the Imperial Base and doing a fair bit of damage, the Republic marshal Cara Dune decided to reward him for his help, reporting him as deceased after their mission, allowing him to walk away free.
Now that he is out in the galaxy trying to get himself started again, it’s possible he may wind up on a planet in the outer rim like Tatooine, trying to stay off the Radar of the New Republic who occupy the core worlds.
Mayfeld put on display that he is handy with a blaster and could seek out someone like Fett for future work as a mercenary, especially after the two had a prior connection having broken into the Imperial facility together.
Fett could definitely use someone with his abilities now that he is stepping into the world of organized crime, and with Mayfeld needing a way to make money and start anew, the two could make for a good partnership and one may Star Wars fans (and Bill Burr fans) would welcome.

6. Rotta the Hutt
While Jabba the Hutt is long dead, and it appeared as though Bib Fortuna was heading the Hutt crime family before being killed by Boba (who appears to have taken his place), there may still be other Hutts out there to challenge Fett.
One of the Hutt’s in question who may be alive to challenge Boba in an attempt to reclaim Jabba’s palace and the role as head of the crime family is Jabba’s son, Rotta the Hutt.
Rotta was first introduced in The Clone Wars animated movie as a young child who was kidnapped from Jabba before being rescued and returned to him by Ashoka Tano.
That was several decades earlier, so while Rotta was just a child then, depending on how his species ages and if he is still alive, he could very well be a grown adult and could hypothetically be reintroduced as an adversary for Fett.
For all we know, Fortuna may have only been heading the Hutt Family until Rotta came of age to take over himself, And while Fett claimed the throne, he may not have killed the actual head of the family.
The bottom line is, bringing back Rotta in a more prominent role could be an interesting way for the series to go, and feuding crime families is a new kind of story we’ve yet to see in Star Wars in a live-action form.

7. Bossk
Another bounty hunter recruited by Darth Vader to hunt down Han Solo during Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, Bossk is another fan-favorite character from the original trilogy who could pop up in The Book of Boba Fett.
Bossk is a reptilian humanoid alien and has a reputation as one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, known for his effectiveness at killing Wookiees.
Beyond simply being a bounty hunter, Bossk also has a prior connection to Boba Fett, having mentored Boba following his father Jango’s death when he was a child during the Clone Wars era.
During the Clone Wars, Bossk worked alongside a group of Bounty Hunters, who took Boba in and helped groom him into becoming a bounty hunter himself.
Now that Fett appears to be set on heading his own crime syndicate, he’ll definitely need some muscle to help him solidify his power, and similar to the logic behind recruiting someone like Mayfeld, Boba may bring in his old friend Bossk to help him in his takeover of the Hutt crime family.

8. Peli Motto
For those who do not recognize the name, Peli Motto is a newly created character in Star Wars, introduced in the first season of The Mandalorian, played by actress Amy Sedaris.
Peli is the spaceport hangar manager at Mos Eisley, who watched the Razor Crest for Mando, and occasionally the Child (aka Grogu) during his two trips to Tatooine.
She has also been known to hang out at the Mos Eisley Cantina, where Mando interrupted her playing a game of sabacc to inquire for information about where to find other Mandalorians to assist him on his quest.
Seeing as Mos Eisley is one of the largest ports on Tatooine, the planet the show is set to take place on, there is a decent chance either Boba Fett or another character could bump into her there.
While it would be surprising for her to appear in any prominent role, The Mandalorian showrunners did say many of the characters would cross over into several shows, so there is a fair chance Peli appears either as a side character or in a brief cameo for some much-needed comic relief.

9. Jango Fett
As is common knowledge among Star Wars fans, the bounty hunter Jango Fett was the template the Republic Clone Army was developed from. And at his request, he has given a clone for himself to raise as a son, Boba Fett.
Jango was killed during the Battle of Geonosis by Mace Windu, so he has been dead for several decades to this point, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the character will not appear.
The actor who portrayed Jango, Temuera Morrison, is set to star as Boba Fett in the upcoming show, just as he did during Boba’s appearances in The Mandalorian.
With Morrison set to star in the show as Boba, there remains a possibility he could also reprise the role of Jango in a flashback with Boba as a child.
While this is merely speculation, one of the showrunners for the show is Dave Filoni, who famously produced the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which featured a young Boba Fett prominently in several episodes.
With his strong connection to this era of Star Wars, Filoni may do a flashback with a young Boba in this era, creating a great opportunity for Jango to have one more scene with his son.

10. Mace Windu
While this is the biggest long shot of the lot, I wouldn’t entirely rule out Mace Windu making an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.
While he appeared to have been killed during the events of the Revenge of the Sith, there are a lot of fan theories that Mace Windu did survive his fall from Emperor Palpatine’s office window and could make a future return to Star Wars.
Beyond that, Samuel L. Jackson (the actor who portrayed Mace) has stated he is very open to returning to the franchise. But one of the big issues in bringing him back would be needing the right story for his character’s return.
As stated previously, Boba’s father Jango was killed by Mace during the battle of Geonosis, after which, Boba swore vengeance upon Mace for his father’s death. However, Windu was presumed dead before Boba was fully grown and had a chance to get his revenge.
With Boba now an adult and highly skilled bounty hunter, in the event Mace Windu is in fact alive and he were to find out about it, Fett would finally have his opportunity for vengeance, and could lead to an ultimate showdown between the galaxy’s most infamous bounty hunter and one of the most dangerous Jedi.
Like I said, it’s a long shot — but so was Luke showing up in the finale in The Mandalorian season 3. Like we’ve all seen before, anything can happen in Star Wars.
