Many will never forget the moment Ewan McGregor and Kathleen Kennedy first announced the actor would be reprising his iconic Star Wars role after over a decade away from the franchise. Though an official Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi release date has yet to be announced, the series could arrive on our small screens within the next year.

This has become even more of a possibility with rumors that several of the show’s cast members have completed their work on the project.

The Bespin Bulletin reported earlier this week that Kenobi actors Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Indira Varma have wrapped filming on the series recently. This implies that other actors with big and small roles in the show are soon to follow. Post-production would be the next logical milestone, which would draw the show even closer to release.

According to IMDb, Friend’s character will appear in all six episodes of the series, but the identity of his character is yet to be revealed. The same goes for Kang and Jackson.

Varma will play an unknown character in one episode of the show, but has already spoken about how much fun she’s having as she learns all about Star Wars on the job. The actor recently posted to Instagram about how grateful she is to have been a part of the project, writing: “I cannot wait to see the result of everyone’s incredible work and talent on screen. Thank you. May the force be with you.”

Hayden Christensen will play Darth Vader alongside Ewan McGregor who will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will return as Owen and Beru Lars, respectively. Other cast members, such as Kumail Nanjiani and Simone Kessell, are also playing characters whose identities have yet to be revealed.

While there’s still much mystery surrounding the story and characters involved in this limited Disney+ series, it’s clear we’re getting a little closer every day to finally seeing it all for ourselves.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
