It’s official! The trailer for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett has arrived and already, fans are buzzing!

It looks like Disney+ has saved the best for last as 2021 will be ending with quite an anticipated continuation of Star Wars lore!

Thankfully, the trailer does answer some questions about what’s in store for Boba Fett, Fennec, and Tatooine itself! The just under two-minute-long trailer left a lot to be explored and today we’re going to take a look at five moments in particular.

Moments such as the future of Tatooine, the musical score, and was that a B’omarr monk in the opening scene? Listed in random order, let’s begin!

5. A New Tatooine?

Let’s be honest, Boba Fett is far from stupid, and it’s his intelligence that really sets him apart from other bounty hunters of the past. Considering he was working for Jabba the Hutt, he has seen and heard many things the rest of Tatooine will probably never know.

There is a reason why Jabba relied on him so much. And whether we like it or not, he did find and help capture Han Solo for Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. With all of his years of experience, would we really be surprised that he wants to change how Tatooine is run?

The last thing he needs is to have his allies turn against him. He needs order and respect.

Apparently, he knows just how to get it, by turning Tatooine and most likely its reputation around. Why should Tatooine be seen as a desert planet filled with unsavory types when it can be and should be more?

Just how will Boba Fett plan to make some severely needed changes for the planet with two suns? We’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out!

4. The Meeting of Jabba the Hutt’s Captains

In order for Tatooine to change, Boba Fett will not be able to do it all on his own. Even with Fennec by his side, he’ll need powerful allies.

This can only mean, as we see, Jabba the Hutt’s captains. After all, why make more enemies for yourself when you can build a new empire from Jabba’s previous one?

While the trailer does not specifically say who these captains are, we can assume that they either lost their power when Jabba died or are still very prominent figures of Tatooine. Either way, Boba is taking it upon himself to lay everything on the table, and basically reveal that he’s taking over.

It seems he rather make peace than start conflict because of his plan to change Tatooine for the better. While yes, there will be some who will speak out against him in anger or disgust, it’s safe to say most will agree and create an alliance with him.

The fact of the matter is even if they don’t fear Boba they will fear Fennec who appears to never miss a shot.

3. The music

Whether it be a movie or television show trailer, I absolutely love paying attention to the musical score. It sets the mood and really transports me into the story that is being told very carefully in the short amount of time given.

Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett’s trailer did not disappoint me! The score starts very slowly before picking up the pace into a crazed rapid momentum.

The pacing in the score is timed perfectly from when very powerful and dramatic lines are spoken to when certain images are purposely presented distraction-free. This musical score tells me a lot already about what is bound to happen.

It tells me that obviously there will be plenty of action in between some tense scenes of politics and perhaps meetings that go awry. As much as Boba Fett is ready to take power for himself he knows there will be plenty of others willing to take him out.

Alliances will be made, but probably not without a long list of betrayals along the way. The musical score is blood pumping, a little eerie and exciting, all the while still keeping true to the theming of Star Wars and Mandalorians alike.

2. The Mandalorian helmet and coins

Aside from trailer music, nothing else speaks to me more than symbolism. As mentioned earlier, Boba will be facing some opposition to his takeover.

Whether it be from others who refuse to answer to him or perhaps the remnants of the Rebel Alliance who don’t realize he’s been on their side at times. Well… whether he will remain a good guy has yet to be seen.

Regardless, the tossed Mandalorian helmet full of coins is both symbolic of Boba holding the head of Jango Fett as a child and of the price of a Mandalorian’s head. The amount of money falling from the helmet means several things but probably most importantly, who has put the bounty on Boba’s head?

Will it be one of Jabba’s captains or someone else entirely? The timing of the image and the following battle scene is impressive and a nail-biter!

Who are those masked warriors and why are they trying to kill Boba and Fennec?

1. B’omarr Order

Last but certainly not least is the appearance of the B’omarr order. At the very beginning of the trailer, we see this spider-like creature moving through the desert.

The first appearance of the B’omarr order was actually in Return of the Jedi, which is rather fitting considering Jabba the Hutt’s palace was once their monastery. According to Wookieepedia: “B’omarr monks was a religious order that believed in isolating themselves from all physical sensation to enhance the power of their minds. To that aim, enlightened monks had their brains transplanted into nutrient-filled jars.”

As a result, we get these large spider-like droids which are terrifying for those who are not fans of spiders to begin with. The fact the trailer decides to open with the image of one moving creepily really sets the tone for Tatooine.

It’s a callback to those who remember them and something different for those who aren’t familiar to see. It’s a nice touch worth mentioning in this list.
