We’re counting down the days until The Book of Boba Fett makes its debut on Disney+ – and so are the actors and others involved in bringing the project to life. The series announcement first appeared during the end credits of The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, and fans have eagerly awaited the return of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand ever since. But despite multiple teasers, it turns out we haven’t seen as much as we thought.

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director and showrunner Robert Rodriguez informed the public that despite the teaser trailers and TV spots released to promote The Book of Boba Fett, we haven’t actually seen much at all.

“We can’t use the second half of the first episode because it gives so much away,” Rodriguez said. In other words: We’ve still only seen one half of the first episode. Uh-oh.

In the past few years, it’s become the norm – at least in terms of Star Wars TV releases on Disney+ – to enter the series only having seen bits and pieces from the first half of the series in an attempt to not give too much away. While it might seem underwhelming, it also likely means Rodriguez and his crew are hiding something.

A secret of Baby Yoda proportions, which blew the minds of Star Wars fans across the globe at the end of the first episode of The Mandalorian in 2019? Sign us up.

From what we know so far – and from what Rodriquez revealed in the above interview – the series will focus on Boba Fett and Fennec Shand’s takeover of Jabba the Hutt’s throne following Bib Fortuna’s … unfortunate demise. We’re going to learn more about the famous bounty hunter than most ever imagined. And the wait is almost over.

The Book of Boba Fett arrives on Disney+ December 29.
