The studio behind Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release three additional Star Wars video games in partnership with Lucasfilm Games, according to a press release Electronic Arts released this morning.

According to the EA release: “Upcoming titles Include the next game in the Star Wars Jedi franchise, a new Star Wars FPS from Peter Hirschmann and a strategy game via a publishing collaboration between Respawn and Bit Reactor.”

This confirms fans’ suspicions that Jedi: Fallen Order would be the first in a series based on the construction of the title (meaning we could get a Jedi: The High Republic by Respawn, which would be a welcome surprise).

This announcement comes just a few months after Lucasfilm Games announced Star Wars: Eclipse, a game set in the era of The High Republic. While that game was met with harsh criticism from fans, Respawn has proven it can handle its Star Wars license with care.

The variety of upcoming games set in the Star Wars universe is an encouraging detail, since many of the Star Wars games released over the past five years have been free-to-play mobile experiences and exclusive VR playthroughs. Squadrons and Fallen Order were major exceptions.

Rumors about a possible Fallen Order 2 have been circulating for quite some time, so it’s possible we could see the next Jedi series game in 2023. But it’s going to be quite some time before we hear more news on the development of these games. Similar to Star Wars: Eclipse, all of these could be three to four years out at the earliest.

Still, with so few games coming from EA since they snagged the Star Wars license, it’s refreshing to know we’re getting more of what we’ve been hoping for.
