After just one day of being out in the world, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has beyond proven to be worth the wait. Fans are pointing out dozens of clever Star Wars references throughout the game — one of them embedded within the voice acting itself.

Fanbyte editor Imran Khan alerted their Twitter followers on the game’s release day that in The Skywalker Saga, Leia starts out the A New Hope gameplay speaking in a British accent — but it’s gone later on in the story. This is a direct reference to the film, in which Carrie Fisher speaks with a British accent at the beginning of the movie but returns to her natural American accent halfway through.

This was confirmed by voice actor Shelby Young, who portrayed Princess Leia in the game. She responded to the original tweet with her explanation of the choice to speak in that accent for part of the story.

“I did my best to honor the original trilogy as closely as possible,” Young wrote, “and I appreciate you noticing and pointing that out!”

Leia’s shifting accent in the original movie has many supposed explanations, but the consensus seems to be that the accent was a trial run. When Fisher dropped it in favor of her normal speaking voice, scenes with the British accent were simply kept in the film.

It’s a noticeable change, but one that tends to go over your head when you’ve seen the film enough times. Young honoring this small detail shows how dedicated she and others on this project have been to the whole thing. It’s certainly paid off big time.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now on your favorite gaming platforms, including but not limited to PC, Xbox One and Series S/X, Playstation 4/5, and more.
