With live-action Disney+ Star Wars shows attempting to maintain common threads between them, many fans have asked when the forthcoming Ahsoka series takes place in the larger Star Wars timeline.

The best answer we can give is that the show will largely take place around the same time as The Mandalorian Season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett, which have their stories set around 12 ABY (around six or so years after the end of Return of the Jedi).

However, many Star Wars fans are speculating that the World Between Worlds will play a role in the show, which could mean the story will jump around in time. This could mean we see more of Ahsoka’s past, or that she somehow appears in the future.

We will learn more as the show airs its first episodes this fall.

As the series draws closer, we learn more and more about what to expect from the show originally announced at Disney Investor Day 2020. Everything from the show’s expected release date to the directors lined up behind the camera to bring the series to life.

We know little of the plot thus far — this is by design. But we do know that Ahsoka will come up against a new unnamed enemy, as well as one many Star Wars fans know well.

The reveal that Grand Admiral Thrawn will appear in the show isn’t as shocking as you’d think. Ahsoka herself first uttered the antagonist’s name way back in The Mandalorian Season 2. Whether or not the show will have faithful ties to Timothy Zahn’s original Thrawn book trilogy is still up in the air, but the author has reportedly been consulted to ensure the character he created is properly depicted in the show.

Over the next few months, we will likely learn even more of what’s to come.

The live-action Star Wars: Ahsoka series is expected to release this August exclusively on Disney+.
