What a time to be a prequel kid! It's our time to shine as we're moving into the anniversary years of our Star Wars. First up is Episode I: The Phantom Menace's 25th anniversary in May, which already has plenty of books and comics coming out this year to celebrate. Empire Magazine just added to the party, revealing that The Phantom Menace will return to theaters in May.

Empire shared on their site, "This May the 4th weekend (so, from Friday 3 May), The Phantom Menace will be re-released in cinemas for a limited time, meaning you can revisit all your favourite moments as large and loud as George Lucas intended. Not only that, but the release is accompanied by epic new poster art from Matt Ferguson – with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon ready to head into battle, Padmé standing her ground, and the ominous face of Darth Maul looming over it all. Now this is podracing!"

The 25th anniversary poster is absolutely stunning, too, which they shared on their social media accounts. Definitely click on the link to see the entire poster:

Empire is having quite the week. After some light trolling of fans, they revealed their 25 years of prequel trilogy covers. Releasing on February 15, the special issue will have new interviews from Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. Jackson, and more. These are issues that prequel fans will not want to miss.

The Phantom Menace was my first Star Wars movie in theaters as a kid. It makes my little prequel loving heart so incredibly happy to see the care and joy in celebrating this movie. Because 10-year-old me didn't care about any backlash or nostalgia from the original trilogy or Jar Jar hate (in fact, I loved that character) because this movie was made for me, a child. The Phantom Menace is something I will always love, warts and all.

Episode I: The Phantom Menace returns to theaters on May 3 for a limited run to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
