In an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK this week, Irish born screen actor Liam Neeson discussed a potential return to Star Wars films. While he was out promoting his upcoming action thriller Taken 3, the 62 year old took time to talk about J.J. Abrams, Qui-Gon Jinn and the new lightsaber from The Force Awakens teaser trailer.
While speaking with Sam Ashurst, Neeson welcomed the idea of starring as fan favorite Qui-Gon Jinn in a future stand alone feature.
From the Yahoo! interview:
"We asked the 62-year-old actor whether he’d be up for a spin-off film featuring his character and he told us, “Yeah, I’d say so. Yeah, that would be terrific.”“I certainly loved shooting the prequel but that was many years ago now.”"

Fans are well aware that the ponytail wearing Jedi Master perished at the hands of Darth Maul in 1999’s The Phantom Menace but Qui-Gon has reappeared several times since, most notably in the popular animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
While exploring the potential of Qui-Gon’s return, Liam Neeson explained how easy it could be to Sam Ashurst.
More from the Yahoo! interview:
"“I don’t know, unless you went back in time or he becomes a hologram or something. He’s a Jedi, anything could happen, it’s Star Wars world!”"
Qui-Gon appears to Obi-Wan in The Clone Wars.
When asked if he’d seen The Force Awakens teaser trailer, Neeson expressed concern over the design of Kylo Ren‘s red bladed lightsaber.
From the Yahoo! interview:
"“I had a couple of worries about that lightsaber. I thought if it comes in and is close to you, it’s like having a jet of fluid hitting your clothes and your skin, but I’m sure they’ve thought that out.”"
