A GIF Breakdown of the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

Rejoice Star Wars universe! The second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released yesterday, at the Star Wars Celebration, during the Force Wakens Panel. Director JJ Abrams and Producer Kathleen Kennedy were on hand to introduce the folks in attendance and the vast number of people watching the Live-Stream online.

Now that we’ve seen the trailer, let’s breakdown each scene, with the magic that is GIFs! The trailer starts out with a desert planet that many fans thought was Tatooine. However, JJ ABrams confirmed that this new planet was the war-torn Jakku. This is a shot of Rey speeding by a crashed Star Destroyer in the background and a half-buried X-Wing in the the foreground.

The shot is of Darth Vader’s mask, with possibly his skull still inside. Many rumors before this trailer was released, said that Kylo Ren, the Sith with the cool lightsaber, would be lifting Vader’s mask and looking closely at it. This seems to be Vader’s dome on a table of sorts…doesn’t mean Kylo Ren won’t pick it up, later.

Here we see the first look of our old pal R2-D2. And, of course Luke Skywalker. Yes, he’s hooded, but the trailer clearly says “I have it” when this scene is shown, and I mean come on, there is clearly a robotic hand…it’s Luke.

And now we have Queen Leia receiving a lightsaber from someone with a tiny arm and hand. We can now officially call her Queen because JJ confirmed it during the Star Wars: Force Awakens Panel. And no, that is NOT Rey taking the saber, look at the garb she is wearing, and that the figure is not as lithe as Daisy Ridley (Rey).

Poe Dameron leading a squadron of X-Wings! Will the new droid BB-8 belong to him? During yesterday’s The Force Awakens exhibit, a model concept of the new X-Wing showed BB-8 clearly in the droid seat, much like Artoo does when Luke flew he X-Wing in the original trilogies.

This is and the next GIF are slightly out of order, only because I desperately want to see them together. The scene depicts Kylo Ren bringing his red lightsaber down in a vicious 2 handed slash, and the other shows him using a Force push. Kylo Ren is my new Sith obsession. In the second GIF, it’s clear to see that Kylo Ren is leading a the First Order on some planet, probably Jakku, as they attack a village.

Here we have Rey and Finn and BB-8 running away from an explosion. Notice the weapon in Rey’s hand. It has been explained that Rey is a scavenger, living on the desert planet of Jakku. So, I think that weapon she is carrying is much like what the Tuscan Raiders use.

Here are the First Order Stormtroopers forming up. Notice the new insignia behind them. And, up on the dais behind them, an unknown figure watches. Is this Andy Serkis’ character, Uber?

Rey chillin at her scavenger home, while working on something.

New looking TIE Fighters flying through a mid-air explosion!

This scene depicts Finn’s escape from the First Oder, as he highjacks a TIE and destroys the hanger, killing many of the troopers in it. He doesn’t feel good about what he’s done, and if you look at the second GIF, there is a bloody print on his helmet. Rumor has it, a trooper who is his friend, dies in his arms.

Ships flying into a Star Destroyer

And here we have the mysterious Captain Phasma, who most believe will be portrayed by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie. I gotta say, I am digging the chrome armor and the cape.

BB-8 peering around a corner. I actually feel scarred for the little guy. HE’S SO DANG CUTE!

Rey offering Finn a hand-up, off the ground. These two are going on an adventure, it would seem.

Much like the first The Force Awakens trailer, the Millennium Falcon is shown being chased by a TIE Fighter. It’s so great seeing that old rust bucket in action. I mean, look at how close it gets to bottoming out in the sand! Word is, that Rey and Finn are going to steal the Falcon and escape Jakku.

Here’s the TIE Fighter pilot, chasing the Falcon. I don’t know about you guys, but this pilot sure looks a lot like Captain Phasma, in all that chrome.

The Falcon narrowly missing being blown to bits.

And last but definitely not least the best part of the entire Force Awakens #2 trailer, Han Solo and Chewbacca! “Chewie…we’re home.” if that doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, or at the very least cause full body chills, then I seriously question you Star Wars fandom.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming this Christmas!
