Star Wars: The Force Awakens Theatrical Poster First Look

We knew it would eventually happen today, and StarWars.com has come through with the goods. The official theatrical poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been unveiled and it is a beauty!

SW.com bills the poster as an awakening of the Dark Side and the Light…which mirror’s Andy Serkis’ voice over from the very first teaser, as Supreme Leader Snoke: “There has been an awakening. Have you felt it? The Dark Side…and the Light.”

As you can see from this magnificent masterpiece, there seems to be a mirroring of sorts, between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley). Their weapons are exactly parallel to each other and they are facing the same direction. It’s long been rumored that the two are Skywalker siblings that were separated at a young age, for their own protection.

There’s more to today’s reveal than just the poster, as StarWars.com notes, the rumors about the new look at The Force Awakens during Monday Night Football have been confirmed, and then there are some theater events, with ticket sales which open tomorrow, as well.

If you watch Episode VII at a Regal Cinemas, then you can participate in what they are calling Star Wars Saturdays:

"“Each Saturday, from December 19 to January 9, at Regal theatres the first 500 guests who experience Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX will receive a collectable ticket featuring unique Star Wars: The Force Awakens art. New art will be revealed each week.”"

At AMC Theatres, they will host Star Wars Sundays, where each Sunday, from December 20 to January 10, “guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D will receive an AMC-exclusive Star Wars print from artist Dan Mumford. A new poster will be revealed each week.” That’s awesome, and worth the price of admission, alone.

There’s also a complete list of participating theaters who will be showing the Star Wars marathon, and you can view that list by clicking THIS LINK.
