The Ronto Roundup: Harrison Ford Update, New Rebels Clips, Simon Kinberg Interview and More!
By Daniel Berry
Welcome Dork Siders, to the very first edition of The Ronto Roundup! Much like our Feel the Force Friday feature, this weekly post will provide our readers with a recap of all the Star Wars news from the previous weekend.
Star Wars: Episode VII star Harrison Ford was photographed in Santa Monica last Tuesday, while boarding his private jet and appeared to be in great shape. Ford had suffered a serious injury to his left ankle while filming on the set of Episode VII back in June, when he had to be air lifted from Pinewood Studios in London, to a hospital in nearby Oxford.
The Daily Mail UK has the story and several photos of Harrison Ford, posted here.
Disney XD will be airing four never before seen clips of the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels, starting tonight. You can catch the sneak peek at 9:32 pm EST, directly following Gravity Falls. The new clip, titled The Machine in the Ghost, features characters Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus arguing with one another during a riveting space battle.
IGN reports:
"Set five years before Episode IV: A New Hope, the new animated series — from executive producers Dave Filoni, Greg Weisman and Simon Kinberg — centers on the crew of the Ghost, who are among the first to act as Rebels against the Empire’s tyranny. There are two who take on a bit of a leadership role, or at least a parental role, among this group – Kanan, a Jedi who’s been in hiding since Order 66, and Hera, the Captain and pilot of the Ghost."
Disney XD will be airing brand new clips of Rebels each Monday evening for the next four weeks, so make sure to program your DVR now. You can catch a short preview of tonight’s clip here.
The folks over at Amazon.Com recently listed a DVD titled Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion available for preorder, which will include include the one hour special that was premiered at San Diego Comic Con in July.
Making Star Wars reports:
"The DVD includes the one-hour special written by executive producer Simon Kinberg, which was previously shown during San Diego Comic Con weekend. The release date is October 14, 2014."
Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere on Disney Channel this October, followed by an ongoing series on Disney XD.
Last week, the folks at Slash Film provided us with an interview with Star Wars Rebels Executive Producer Dave Filoni. They also caught up with Simon Kinberg while at San Diego Comic Con. Kinberg is one of the other Executive Producers of Rebels, as well as a consultant on Star Wars: Episode VII. During the interview, he spoke about how the new animated series will fit into the larger part of the Star Wars story and his own role in producing a Star Wars spin-off film.
