The Rebellion Begins on October 3rd!

This morning, Lucasfilm finally revealed the premiere date for the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels. The hour long special; titled Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, will air at 9:00 pm EST on Friday, October 3rd on the Disney Channel.

From the official Star Wars site:

"Continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, an exciting animated one-hour movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion is set to premiere Friday, October 3 on Disney Channels around the world, ushering in the highly anticipated series Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD.  In the US, Star Wars Rebels episodes will debut Monday nights beginning Monday, October 13 on Disney XD.  Worldwide, the series will air in 33 languages across 163 countries in over 400 million households."

Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will also air on Disney XD on Monday, October 6th at 9:00 pm EST, just in case you miss it the first time around.

Fans who are too eager to wait for the October 3rd premiere can catch the show a few days early.

"Leading up to its global television debut, Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will be available on Disney Channel SVOD and to verified users beginning Monday, September 29, on WATCHDisneyXD.com and the WATCH Disney XD app."

Following Spark of Rebellion, Rebels will continue in it’s weekly format on Disney XD. The series will begin on Monday, October 13th and last for a total of 16 episodes before wrapping up it’s first season. The show is scheduled to air each Monday at 9:00 pm EST on Disney XD.

The premiere one hour special actually made it’s debut at San Diego Comic Con and received some high praise from those lucky enough to attend. You can read all about that, here.

In addition to it’s multiple air dates, Spark of Rebellion will be made available to purchase very soon. On Saturday, October 4th, it will be available from iTunes, Amazon Prime, Google Play and Disney XD VOD. The DVD release for the one hour special is set for Tuesday, October 14th.

Disney XD has been airing exclusive looks at the new show for the past few weeks, and will continue for two more. The next clip; titled Property of Ezra Bridger, will air at 9:29 pm EST on Monday night. These short clips are actually not from the upcoming run of episodes, rather exclusive looks at the characters in Rebels. We’ve included the first two below, in case you missed them.

The first exclusive Rebels clip; titled The Machine in the Ghost, aired on Monday, August 11th on Disney XD:
