Oscar Isaac On False Star Wars Rumors and “The Force Awakens”

Up and coming Hollywood star Oscar Isaac was featured in several revealing interviews last week, while out doing press for his latest vehicle A Most Violent Year. The young actor addressed the slew of rumors surrounding his work on the upcoming J.J. Abrams film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

While speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Isaac expressed his disappointment in Star Wars bloggers leaking information from the set of The Force Awakens but also stated that no one has actually nailed it with their theories on what the new Star Wars story will include.

From the Yahoo article:

"This past summer saw a series of leaks from the set, including photos of the Millennium Falcon and other minor spoilers. Abrams, who provided little tidbits for fans via charity videos and tweets, asked people not to post spoilers, and even hung posters around the set warning of the dire consequences.Isaac agreed that the leaks were distracting and disappointing, and sort of flew in the face of a true fan experience.“I can’t speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, Don’t you want to wait so you can get the real thing?” Isaac said. “But it creates excitement for it. I don’t think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the plot theories that get that formulated based on these things — they couldn’t be more far off-base.”"

While speaking with Nerdist last week, Isaac further discussed his role in the next Star Wars film. In comparing his work on a film like A Most Violent Year to the huge undertaking of filming a space fantasy epic, Isaac had some interesting comments.

From the Nerdist article:

"“Yeah, it’s a lot bigger, it’s a much bigger machine. You know, this is a character study. You spend almost 2 hours – over 2 hours with this one man, seeing how he reacts to adversity, and slowly understanding who he is. By the end of it, I think you’ve got a sense of who this person was, but you had to go through this whole thing to even get that sense of him.Star Wars is a very different thing. You’re feeding excitement to a world. However, I think what JJ’s done with it is make it a very emotional story, and the spectacle is secondary to the emotion of it.”"

During the Nerdist interview, Isaac also let his nerd flag fly a bit by revealing his life long devotion to the Star Wars saga.

More from the Nerdist article:

"“The first movie I ever saw was Return of the Jedi in the theater. I mean, it’s totally part of my childhood, and the fact that all of us that have been fans for so long are now in a the position where we actually make the stuff is kind of amazing.”"
