Marvel Star Wars Issue 1 hit comic stores January 14, 2015 and has been a huge success selling over a million copies! It began a new era in Star Wars comics and
the first issue was everything readers could have hoped for
.
"“Thanks to the strong support of the Direct Market comic shops and a few new outlets we have well surpassed 1 million copies of Star Wars #1,” said David Gabriel, Senior Vice President of Print & Digital Publishing at Marvel. “The book continues to sell and is now going into its third printing.” –The Escapist Magazine"
ComicBook.com is reporting that Marvel’s Darth Vader #1, due to release February 11, is now at over 300,000 pre-orders making it a powerhouse seller as well. Star Wars is taking the comic book world by storm and on February 4, Star Wars Issue 2 written by Jason Aaron with art by John Cassaday will hope to continue this trend.
Comic Book Resources got a first look at the first few lettered pages of this issue and it looks like it will not disappoint.
Vader’s recognition that Luke is a novice is brilliantly written and I can’t wait to see how this series develops their story leading up to The Empire Strikes Back. You can see a few more pages at CBR along with a synopsis of this issue.
Earlier this month Star Wars released a few pages of Cassaday’s drawings without text and it looks like this issue is going to be a great ride. That ride comes courtesy of Han and Leia in an AT-AT Walker!
So if you haven’t done it yet, get to your local comic shop and pick up Star Wars #1 and have them pull issue #2 for you. If you don’t have a shop close by, get a digital copy from Marvel or Comixology. It will be your first step into a larger Star Wars world.
