Despite the fact that it depicted a fascinating period of intergalactic civil war in the universe, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was forced into an awkward exit from TV before eventually finding a deserved afterlife on Netflix.
But now, the show’s creators are finally getting some medals of valor for their work on the battlefield.

The series has racked up seven Daytime Emmy nominations for its sixth and final season, known as “The Lost Missions.” If you remember, the show was canceled shortly after Disney acquired Lucasfilm so as to focus efforts on the sequel trilogy.
That’s when Netflix swooped in and put The Clone Wars on its shelves, er, site, and released the last 13 unaired episodes, giving the showrunners, cast and fans something resembling closure.
It’s received nominations across several categories, including outstanding writing, sound editing and music direction. Probably the most notable nod belongs to Mark Hamill, who was honored for his work as Darth Bane in the series finale “Sacrifice.”
Star Wars Rebels may be in the spotlight now, but it’s important to remember that it was heavily influenced by the trailblazing work done on The Clone Wars by Dave Filoni and his crew.
The show did an exquisite job of balancing the emotional weight of the conflict with the inherent lightheartedness of Star Wars adventures, something the prequels failed to achieve. It didn’t quite get the ending it deserved, but it’s nice to see its genius be recognized nevertheless.
The show also represented more than half of Netflix’s 13 total nominations.
The awards ceremony airs on Sunday, April 26, at 8 p.m. Eastern on Pop. Check out the full list of the show’s nominations below:
