It happened, folks…it really happened. JJ Abrams debuted the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer #2, at the Force Awakens Panel. Check it out.
So, let’s break this down, shall we?
- As you can see, the trailer opens up on the planet Jahku (sp), with Rey on her speeder, traveling past a huge crashed Star Destroyer…the iconic Star Wars music playing.
- Luke’s voice enters: “The Force is strong in my family”
- Darth Vader’s breathing can barely be heard, as who I can only speculate is Kylo Ren, lifts his burned helmet…possibly skull still attached.
- Luke’s voice again – “My father has it”
- A cloaked and hooded figure places his robotic hand on R2-D2. Assuming this is Luke.
- Luke’s voice – “I have it”
- Luke’s voice – “My sister has it”
- A child’s hand, or a very tiny person, hands a lightsaber to a woman. I’m assuming it’s Princess Leia.
- Black screen. Luke’s voice – “You have that power too”
- A Squadron of X-Wings flies over the water. Much different spot that the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.
- Shot of Poe Dameron, yelping (WOOHOO), as he pilots his X-Wing.
- Kylo Ren brings his lightsaber down in a slash
- Rey, Finn, and BB-8 flee an explosion. Rey has some sort of staff or weapon in her hands.
- Kylo Ren using a Force-push, saber ignited.
- A shot of the Stormtroopers forming up.
- A female is shown looking up. Seems likely to be Rey.
- TIE Fighters flying through a mid-air explosion.
- An Imperial hanger being destroyed. TIE Fighters exploding, Stormtroopers being thrown about.
- Finn, in his trooper armor, takes off his helmet. He looks distressed.
- Space shot of a Star Destroyer, with ships approaching.
- The chrome-plated Stormtrooper Captain Phasma, played by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, walks toward the screen.
- BB-8 peaks around a corner.
- Rey, again.
- Rey giving Finn a hand-up, off the ground.
- The Millennium Falcon being chased inside the crashed Star Destroyer by a TIE Fighter.
- TIE Fighter pilot shown. Looks like the pilot is wearing chrome armor. Possibly Captain Phasma.
- Han and Chewbacca. Han – Chewie…we’re home” Chewie growls his approval.
This trailer was quite simply amazing. It had everything the first one did not. We wanted a look at the old cast, and we got a hooded Luke, R2, Han and Chewie…and I’m pleased. This trailer is also proof that the audio clip leaked last night, was in fact legit.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
