50. A Stormtrooper Proposes to His Girlfriend
One of the ways this year’s Celebration set itself apart from past events is the introduction of a livestreaming option. For fans who couldn’t attend or who simply didn’t want to miss their favorite panels while waiting in line, the official Star Wars site offered a continuous feed of what was happening around Celebration, featuring some of the biggest panels as well as smaller one-on-one interviews and moments.
This adds an interesting element of tension to the proceedings, as the notion that you’re watching the convention live means something unexpected could happen at any moment. And that’s what happened when Eric Pfeifer (sp?) surprised his girlfriend Savannah during a Her Universe segment by proposing to her at the cantina set.
Thankfully, she said “yes.” And although I know this probably would’ve made things awkward, part of me wishes she had said “I know” instead to make it the perfect Star Wars proposal.
