StarWars.com ranks the 10 best Star Wars Costumes

In a recent “Starwars.com 10” the editorial staff at StarWars.com ranked the top ten best Star Wars costumes. From the Imperial Guard to Queen Amidala, the list has some very well thought-out and interesting choices. Of course, the list is subjective, and I don’t agree with all the choices, but it’s rather well put together. Check it out.

10. Coming in at ten, is the Imperial Guard. I agree with this choice because as a kid, I thought they were the most badass guards in the Empire’s employ. The red color robes, uniform, and helmet made these guys incredibly menacing.

9. The Imperial officer uniforms. Again, I agree that this is a great choice. They serve a purpose, which is to set the officers aside from the regulars. In the Star Wars universe, these uniforms are easily some of the most recognizable, plus they speak of the regimented discipline of the Galactic Imperial Forces.

8. Lando’s outfit. I disagree with this one, because Lando deserves to be closer to the top 5. His costume helps show the confidence and swagger that only Lando Calrissian could pull off.

7. Princess Leia’s metal bikini. Again, I have to say the staff of StarWars.com got this completely wrong. Much like a lot of red-blooded American boys growing up in the 80’s, I had Princess Leia on my bedroom wall. The metal bikini has become iconic, over the years, and deserves better than 7.

6. The Rebel Alliance flight suits. I’m on the fence about this one, because they are generic and not unique in the least bit. But, it’s hard to imagine Luke Skywalker destroying the Death Star in anything but his pilot uniform…so I guess this was a good choice.

5. The Jedi robes. I gotta say, I  think they belong closer to number 1, than any other costume. If any faction is more recognizable by their attire than the Jedi, it may be the Sith, who by the way are sadly missing from this list. I guess you could combine Force users into one category, both Jedi and Sith, and put them at number 1, alas they did not.

4. Queen Amidala’s throne room gown. Good choice here. If there was something (besides Darth Maul and Qui-Gon), that remains iconic, to this day from the prequels, it’s Amidala’s wardrobe. The gowns were grand and over the top exquisite.

3. Stormtrooper armor. This belongs closer to number 10. I get it, the stormtrooper is probably one of the most easily recognizable characters from the Star Wars universe, but because of their generic nature, I would rank them at number 10.

2. Boba Fett. Yep, he’s exactly where he belongs. Boba’s Mandalorian inspired armor is arguably more iconic that the stormtrooper’s if only for it’s uniqueness. And, hopefully we will get a movie in the Anthology films, so that we can see more of that awesome armor.

1. Darth Vader. I agree with this choice. Despite being a Sith Lord, Darth Vader’s armor sets him apart from the usual black hooded robes that other Sith like Maul and Sidious prefer. I’ve used the word iconic to explain other choices on this list, but the most iconic of all Star Wars characters in Darth Vader, and it’s probably because of his armor.

Do you agree with these choices? Who, what and where would you rank other character armor/costumes? Let us know in the comments below.
