Ewoks in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? It’s possible!

The diligent Force workers over at Making Star Wars have uncovered a cool bit of information regarding the possible inclusion of Ewoks in Star Wars: The Force Awakens…well at least one of the furry little mischief makers. In a press book from Japan, which included all the other stars of the movie, who were there doing promotion, Warwick Davis is listed as a cast member, reprising his role as Wicket.

Of course this is just a press book for Japan, and not an official cast book from Disney/Lucasfilm, but there may be a clue to Wicket’s inclusion in the newest Star Wars film. As you well know, there is a shot of Darth Vader’s melted and burned helmet, in the second teaser trailer for The Force Awakens, which begs the question – Where did they recover that mask from?

Well, Darth Vader’s body was burned on a pyre, by his son Luke, on the planet of Endor, where Wicket’s people the Ewoks, live. It’s not too much of a stretch to consider someone from the First Order, Kylo Ren perhaps, in his search for ancient Sith Relics, goes to Endor to recover the armor of the former Dark Lord of the Sith. Rumors abound that Kylo Ren is a child of either Luke, or Leia and Han, so he would have been told stories of his grandfather’d redemption in the battle above Endor, and where his body was laif to rest.

Regardless, I would not mind seeing Wicket and some of the other cute little Ewoks making a minor appearance in the movie. They definitely were not my favorite characters from Return of the Jedi, but they served a fun purpose. Perhaps keeping Vader’s armor safe, is something the Ewoks have been doing since Return of the Jedi, and In The Force Awakens, they will have to defend themselves against the First Order.
