There will be NO new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at San Diego Comic-Con
Entertainment Weekly‘s resident Star Wars expert, Anthony Breznican, has just posted information regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ presence at this week’s Sand Diego Comic-Con. According to Breznican, there will be no new trailer shown, nor clips, from the newest Star Wars film — which hits theaters on December 18 — at SDCC 2015, stating that a source who “has knowledge of the project” has confirmed there will be a new trailer in the fall. This will likely be the D23 (the Disney convention in August), where both Marvel and Star Wars plan on making huge splashes.
The article does go on to state that the Star Wars San Diego Comic-Con panel will offer a behind the scenes look at the film, which has been on total lock-down to press during its production. This is something that fans of J.J. Abrams’ movies are used to by now, which is why to a behind the scenes look at The Force Awakens is such a surprise and in the end, might be better than a new trailer.
Confirmed members of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel are, Director J.J. Abrams, screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The entire event, which will take center stage in the famous Hall H, will be moderated by the Nerdist himself, Chris Hardwick. As of yet, there has been no confirmations of which actors from the film will be there, but EW’s sources are telling them that several actors who have yet to speak publicly about their roles, will be brought out on stage.
Who could that be? Well, there are quite a few actors who haven’t been in the public eye about their parts in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including:
- Gwendoline Christie — Captain Phasma
- Andy Serkis — Supreme Leader Snoke
- Adam Driver — Kylo Ren
- Domhnall Gleeson — (As of yet named character who seems to be a high ranking First Order officer)
- Max von Sidow — (Rumored to be playing “The Vicar”)
So, with this report that there will be no new trailer from The Force Awakens, do you find yourself disappointed? Or was this expected? Also, who do you think will join Abrams on stage, from the cast, at SDCC? Let’s talk about it, in the comments below.
