Marvel’s Star Wars comics have seen phenominal success, and that wild popularity will continue this August, with Star Wars #8. Writer Jason Aaron and artist Stuart Immonen will helm the issue. Marvel issued an official press release today, detailing the synopsis for this all new and exciting story arc for Luke Skywalker:
"“After discovering the journals of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, more determined than ever continues his quest to learn about the history of the Jedi. A quest that will take him to the center of the galaxy – to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant! But what he and R2-D2 uncover on their journey to the massive city-planet may be more than he bargained for. Meanwhile, at the far end of the galaxy, Han Solo & Princess Leia are confronted by a most unexpected foe.”"
This seems like a very exciting arc, as Luke will be traveling to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. We only get to see the Jedi Temple in the prequel trilogy and various video games, so making it part of the new canon is extremely interesting.
There are several different covers to choose from:
Star Wars #8 — Art & Cover by Stuart Immonen
Star Wars #8 — Variant Cover by John Cassaday
Star Wars #8 — Action Figure Variant by John Tyler Christopher
Star Wars #8 — Sketch Variant by Stuart Immonen
Marvel has done a superb job revamping the Star Wars line. The stories have been rich in Star Wars lore and now that it’s all new canon, the new characters being introduced are that much more exciting. I’m glad we will get to see Luke explore what it is to be a Jedi Master. Learning from Obi-Wan’s recordings and seeking out knowledge at the Jedi Temple, is exactly what a lone Jedi would do. Star Wars #8 will hit shelves on August 19, later this year.
