J.J. Abrams Answers some Hilarious Questions about Star Wars: The Force Awakens

MTV recently caught up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, at a red carpet event, and asked him several yes or no questions regarding Episode VII. All but one of the questions ended-up being fun in nature, and it served to bring a little levity to all the seriousness and mystery surrounding the film.

As you can see, the MTV reporter was just having some good-natured fun with J.J. and the two genuinely seem like they are friends…hey, how do I get that gig? The first question is probably the most serious and realistically interesting question and answer:

MTV: “Do you have a cut of The Force Awakens right now? Can you give me an approximate running time or anything?” JJ: “We definitely have a cut, the running time is always sort of adjusting.” Here’s where the brevity kicks in. JJ: “It’s anywhere from an hour and a half to four hours.” The director goes on to joke that Peter Jackson keeps calling him to make it four hours…a poking fun at Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films.

The interview just descends into silliness from there, with questions ranging from The Force Awakens‘ continuity with the Star Wars Holiday Special, to is R2-D2 becomes an asshole if he doesn’t eat. We also got the Chewbacca 45 minute shaving scene joke, if anyone mentions Midi-Chlorians in the film, and if anyone says “May the Force be with You.” All answered with a “No” from J.J.

Like I said, this was a fun interview with the director, and serves to lighten up the seriousness surrounding the film. It’s good to know that the man who is bringing Star Wars to a while new generation, likes to have have fun and doesn’t take himself too seriously.
