Could we see an HD remake of Knights of the Old Republic in 2016?

Knights of the Old Republic is without a doubt, one of the most popular Star Wars video games in Star Wars franchise history. The staying power of the game is unarguable, as ten years since its release, people are still playing and replaying the epic story, and introducing people to the game, who’ve never before seen or played it. Bioware crafted a superb and rich story, in which players were able to immerse themselves in the history and lore of the Star Wars universe.

The games became so popular in fact, that Bioware and EA created an Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, set after the events of the original Xbox and PC games. For a few years now, nostalgic fans of the original games have been clamoring for an HD remake of Knights of the Old Republic, and to make it available to PS3/4 users as well.

In that regard, trusted website Cinelinx has written a piece detailing some information that has been leaked from three separate sources claiming that Knights of the Old Republic will in fact me remade in HD, in 2016.

"“I’ve heard from multiple sources that Knights of the Old Republic is getting an update for the current generation consoles…and I’m not talking about a resolution remaster; an actual upgrade to the game to make it enjoyable for both new and returning gamers.”"

Cinelinx’s source goes on to say that we may hear an announcement in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year, that the remake will be released in the third or fourth quarter of 2016. If true, this would be huge and exciting news for fans of the game. And if this rumor holds up, we would have to hear something in the next couple of months. I for one, am on board with a remake, and would play it all over again, just to get the chance to see Revan and Malak in glorious HD.
