29. Darth Vader Is Banned From Official Events
In a huge blow to fans all over the galaxy, Darth Vader is, sadly, not able to attend conventions. Of course, the character himself can appear in costume, but the actor who played him in the original trilogy cannot.
David Prowse, who played Vader in the franchise’s first three films, confirmed in 2010 that he was not allowed to attend any Star Wars or Lucasfilm events for the rest of his life.
"“The only thing I’ve been told is I’ve burnt too many bridges between Lucasfilm and myself."
The reason for the banishment apparently stems back to an ongoing feud that Prowse and Lucas have been engaged in since 1983. As the story goes, Lucas promised Prowse that when Darth Vader’s mask is removed at the end of Return of the Jedi, the actor would be “seen and heard” as Anakin Skywalker. This never happened, as Sebastian Shaw was cast as Anakin. Prowse, reportedly, never let it go.
