50 Star Wars secrets that will blow your mind

23. There Are No Female Fighter Pilots In Original Trilogy
There was one female hero in the original Star Wars trilogy and she was a princess who really didn’t do much except inappropriately kiss her bother and fall in love with a scoundrel. Princess Leia was a badass, but she was the only badass among her gender. This mostly has to do with the fact that she was the only female character who ever did battle in the original films.
Female pilots were added in subsequent re-releases of the film but A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back still includes no female fighter pilots in any of the space battle sequences.
While we don’t want to say we were rooting for the wrong side, oppression apparently went both ways when it came to the Rebels and the Empire.
