9. Jar-Jar Binks Ended The Galaxy

If there’s one character that all Star Wars fans can be universally hate, it’s Jar-Jar Binks. In a film that did nothing right and has only one redeeming quality, Jar-Jar managed to be far and away the worst thing that happened to The Phantom Menace. Seriously, there is nothing to like about that film, and yet edits of the movie that take Jar-Jar out of it instantly makes it a better flick.

George Lucas had to have known this after the backlash following The Phantom Menace, and he laid out perhaps the best troll ever. In Attack of the Clones, with the Jedi out of pocket and war looming, the fate of the universe is left in the hands of Jar-Jar, who proceeds to f–k everything up.

It’s Jar-Jar who gives Senator Palpatine emergency powers that allow him to create the clone army and effectively begin the end of the Republic as we know it. The series of events that followed from here were the near-extinction of the Jedi, the fall of the senate and the death of freedom.

Jar-Jar was literally so terrible that he killed freedom. George Lucas had have been in on that, because if he wasn’t it’s proof that he’s the Jar-Jar of the filmmaking world.
