Do you hear that? That overwhelmingly thunderous sound of two behemoths crashing together — like some ancient titans of Greek mythology locked in mortal combat — is the sound of two of the largest fanbases in all of nerdom coming together in the most epic of ways. Tom Baker, formerly Doctor Who number four, has reportedly let slip that he will be joining the cast of a Star Wars project. Now, what that exact project is, we still don’t know, but here’s how this gigantic ball of speculation started rolling.

The Fourth Doctor, made famous for his now trademark scarf, was signing autographs at a Day of the Doctors fan convention, and spilled the beans as it were, to his fans. According to Sci-fi and Fantasy Network, Baker told the crowd:

"“I’m going to be in this new Star Wars thing, you know? I’m going down to record some voices for this new character they’ve created for me, very soon.”"

For now, it’s unclear as to what Star Wars “thing” Baker (who is a spry 81 years of age) will be attached. As you well know, there are several Star Wars projects in the works, including of course, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But there’s also Rogue One which is currently being filmed, a young Han Solo Anthology film, Episode VIII, and a myriad of animated shows like Star Wars Rebels, and video games like Star Wars Battlefront. However, if he is doing voice work, then it could be narrowed down to an animated series, or video game…but of course he could also be voicing a completely CGI’d character in an actual film. We just do not know.
