Disney’s very own Expo — D23 — was held this weekend, and with it, Lucasfilm had quite the showing with Star Wars taking center stage for most of the convention. EA was on hand to deliver some new looks at their highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront game, and in doing so, revealed some concept art for the “Battle of Jakku” DLC (Downloadable Content).

Justin McCully — EA Star Wars GM — was on hand at D23, to reveal the concept art for “Battle of Jakku” as well as a bevy of new details for Star Wars Battlefront. While on stage, McCully revealed that the DICE team went to Abu Dhabi — where Star Wars: The Force Awakens was filming scenes for the desert planet Jakku, so they could connect Battlefront to Episode VII, as accurately as possible.

“Battle of Jakku” will be the first DLC from the game, which if pre-ordered, will be available on December 1st, a full two weeks ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and a week ahead of players not preordering, who will then see the content on December 8. What we do know, from what EA/DICE and Lucasfilm has previously revealed, the “Battle of Jakku” will be a pivotal moment when the New Republic, fresh off their victory from the end of Return of the Jedi (the Battle for Endor), confronts important Imperial holdouts on the remote desert planet of Jakku, located in the Outer Rim.

By the time The Force Awakens takes place, some thirty years after Episode VI, Jakku’s surface is littered with the crashed ships from both sides in the battle, where the inhabitants of the desert planet scavenge and live in the wrecks, much like Daisy Ridley’s character in The Force Awakens — Rey. Star Wars Battlefront will be Available November 17, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on Origin for PC.
