As part of their teaser for their Winter Movie Preview, Empire Magazine has revealed a snippet of a conversation they had with Star Wars: The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams. The teaser is exactly that, a brief yet unfulfilling look into a much larger picture concerning what many fans had until now, considered the Sith Lord of The Force Awakens.

"“Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”"
The infamously secretive director of Episode VII has, as per his usual course of action, kept much of the big reveals top secret. However, revealing that Kylo Ren of the Knights of Ren — a title we found the meaning t0 in Entertainment Weekly’s coverage of The Force Awakens — is not actually a Sith, opens up loads and loads of questions. The director continued to talk about the voice driving Kylo.
"“He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”"
Okay, notice he did not call Snoke a Sith either. He is a powerful figure in the Dark Side. Could Snoke be a Force Ghost? Is a some some of Force shaman like the shaman of Dathomir from The Clone Wars animated series? For now there are just way too many questions left out there.
Abrams did expound a bit on the First Order, comparing them to the Nazi regime after the fall of Adolph Hitler. In this case Emperor Palpatine would be Hitler, and the Empire would be the Nazi party. Once Hitler was killed, the Nazis fell apart, fleeing to places on non-extradition like Argentina. Abrams posits the question: What if all of the Nazis had gone to Argentina and regrouped under a new name, and tried to once again try for world domination? Apparently, this is the First Order’s mission goal.
There are a ton of questions left unanswered at this point, and hopefully we will get some of those questions answered on Thursday when the special Star Wars Empire Magazine hits shelves this Thursday.
