We are now officially 90 days away from the theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens; the first live-action Star Wars film in 10 years since 2005’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. That’s huge news folks, as it signals the beginning of a new era in Star Wars history, when a whole new generation will be introduced to the magic that is the Star Wars universe. In that vein, we have some reports, rumors, and rumblings of all kinds to tell you about.

First up, there is a rumor — as reported by website Star Wars Junk —  that the first television spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will hit on Thanksgiving weekend. Apparently, SWJ’s source says that Disney and someone very close to the film (I am personally assuming J.J. Abrams), are having trouble coming to some sort of agreement on just how much should be released to the public, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on December 18. As you may know, Abrams is famous for his secrecy…going so far as to flat out lie (according to Star Trek fans eww) in order to keep the big reveals under wraps.

"“The plan is that some spots will focus on the story, while others focus more on the new characters. We have also learned that the first TV spot, as of now, is planned for Thanksgiving Day (in the US) during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Which, as you may know, is a Thursday, with 4-5 different (or slightly recut) spots hitting that weekend. You may see TV spots hit a few days before but the official push will be Thanksgiving weekend.”"

Next, we have a report from Slashfilm that says there will be 7pm showings of The Force Awakens, on December 17, in some participating theaters.

"“/Film reader Jerry S was able to confirm with Sacramento’s Esquire IMAX theatre that the first screenings for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will take place at 7:00pm on the day before the posted release date.”"

For now, it looks as if Sacramento is the only confirmed area for early screenings, but look for more theaters in other cities across the U.S. to announce early screenings, the closer we get to December 18, and the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
