Lupita Nyong’o has had quite the busy past couple of years. Since winning the Academy Award for best Supporting Actress for her role as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, the 32-year-old actress was hired by J.J. Abrams to play Maz Kanata, a mysterious motion-captured alien in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She’ll also be voicing the mother-wolf Raksha in Disney’s live-action The Jungle Book.
Nyong’o, who is appearing on the cover of Vogue Magazine this October (for the second time), recently answered 73 questions about her life, her interests, and what show she’d like to make a cameo on. It’s Game of Thrones, and thanks to our partners at Winter is Coming — the #1 Game of Thrones website for news, filming information, editorials, and casting for upcoming seasons — we’ve got this wonderful piece.
At the 1:02 mark Lupita is asked what her favorite Star Wars movie is, to which she replies The Empire Strikes Back (excellent choice!). Next question is “Luke Skywalker or Han Solo?” without hesitation Lupita Nyong’o furrows her brow and answers “Han Solo.” Sorry Luke, I hope this doesn’t mean Maz holds any ill-will toward Luke in The Force Awakens. “C-3PO or R2-D2?” Lupita answers “R2-D2.” Good choice Lupita. Then we get a cool question:
“How many CGI dots did you wear for The Force Awakens?” to which Lupita replies, “I don’t know for sure, but I think it was more than 168.”
The voice behind the camera points out that 168 is a very specific number. After that there’s just more questions about her personal likes and dislikes, but around 3:48, Lupita opens a drawer in the accessories closet, and pulls out a red lightsaber, while the guy behind the camera says “No spoiler alert, no.”
