Jedi Council: Favorite Moments From the Star Wars Rebels Trailer

With the premiere of a new trailer for season two of Star Wars Rebels, there were many intriguing revelations that will undoubtedly make for an explosive season. In this week’s meeting of the Jedi Council, the Masters at Dork Side reveal their picks for moments from the trailer they’re looking forward to seeing the most when season two premieres on October 14th.

Elaine Tveit:  There’s a lot to love in this new trailer. But perhaps the most riveting moment is, unsurprisingly, the one where it becomes evident the new Inquisitors are going to get their butts kicked by Ahsoka Tano.

The Seventh Sister (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who incidentally is the wife of the voice behind Kanan Jarrus, Freddie Prinze Jr.) and the Fifth Brother may think they can take on Ahsoka, but I have my doubts. While they appear to have no trouble disabling Kanan and Ezra in the screenshot above, the latter’s training in the ways of the Force and lightsaber combat are, let’s face it, meager compared to Ahsoka’s experience in both arenas. Not only is she as close to a veteran Jedi as you can get without having been knighted, she has two new lightsabers, which are also the first we’ve seen with pure white blades.

If lightsaber blades could be stained, I don’t think Ahsoka would have any qualms about reddening hers with the Inquisitors’ blood.

Mike Valverde: While watching the trailer to the second season, I stumbled upon an odd-looking fellow named Captain Rex or otherwise known as CT-7567. “Rex” is a veteran of the clone troopers and involved with 501st legion during the Clone Wars. He also took part in the fight between the Galactic Empire and a group of rebels four years before the Battle of Yavin.

What I find interesting about Rex is that he has the fortitude to become a great commander, but also the humor to be forward and honest. He reminds me of a disciplined Yoda with Han Solo personality. Rex has mixed with the crew before. Getting to interact with Anakin Skywalker who is the first to introduce Rex to the others.

When assigned to Anakin as second in command he was given the duties of command of Torrent Company or the 501st. He also served with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody. This seems to tie in somehow with the trailer for season two of Rebels. In the trailer he mentions himself as Captain Rex who fought with Commander Tano, then states: “A friend of hers is a friend of mine.”

Rex becomes friends with Tano in the Battle of Christophasis.  He takes Tano under his wing and teaches her about being a commanding officer. He is there to guide her by offering her advice and leadership. On of the major lessons Rex states toTano is “while she may outrank him, it’s experience that outranks everything.” Unsure of how much involvement that Rex will actually have, but by the trailer it seems that he is logged in for quite a ride.

David (Razor) Harris: Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels looks infinitely more interesting to me because of the potential confrontation between Ahsoka and her former Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker, who is now Darth Vader. While season 1 had its moments, and I enjoyed it, it definitely fell short for me, especially compared to its predecessor Star Wars The Clone Wars.

Now with Ahsoka finally revealing herself to be Fulcrum, and with Ezra and Kanan continuing their training, the potential for the Dark Side of the Force to infiltrate its way into their ranks, is at an all time high. And, for me, a person who loves constant chaos, the Dark Side is where I happily hang my hat. I want to see more of where these Inquisitors come from. Why are they called names like Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister? Are they the Force sensitive children that Palpatine kidnapped to experiment on during The Clone Wars?

But to my point, I want more than anything, a showdown between Vader and Ahsoka. I want to know what happens to Anakin’s former Padawan after their confrontation, because obviously Vader won’t lose. Will he allow her to escape, as part of Anakin pokes through the veil that is Vader? Or, will we see the death of everyone’s favorite Togruta? These are answers I hope to see in Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels.
