7. Less Poetry

I love George Lucas for giving us Star Wars, I’m not a George Lucas hater by any means.  I didn’t love the prequels, but I don’t blame George Lucas for that and I don’t erase everything he’s done because of them. That being said…

All the throwbacks and connections in shots and lines between movies need to stop, or if not stop, be toned down significantly.  I really think that part of the reason that the prequels weren’t loved is that they felt like something we’d seen before and loved, but a super boring version of it.

Here’s what George loves and I hate:

The moments of similarity between the movies would have more impact and feel more genuine if there weren’t quite so many of them; and they didn’t bang you over the head with them.  Here’s hoping that the trailer doesn’t try to look like the other movies.
