33. Leia Kills Jabba The Hutt

Film: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

The Moment: After being taken prisoner by Jabba the Hutt and made into his slave, Leia uses the distraction near the sarlacc pit to turn the tide and escape. Not only does she escape Jabba’s clutches, but she manages to kill the most powerful Hutt gangster on Tatooine in the process.

Why It’s Memorable: Well, first and foremost people remember this entire sequence for one thing — that slave bikini. It’s as sexy as Star Wars every tried to get, and it surprisingly doesn’t feel forced. George Lucas knew what he was doing when her came up with that concept, as it’s something that has lived on in cosplay for decades and will for so many more to come.

But as far as the moment itself, this is an example of another badass Star Wars character going out like a flickering flame. Boba Fett, Darth Maul and Jabba the Hutt were all given minimal screen time and made the absolute most with it and become memorable characters we wanted to see more of. All three characters were killed off rather quickly and Jabba is one of the final examples of that. Thankfully with the anthology films, we might get to see his character fleshed out more.
