7. Boba Fett Goes Out Like A Punk
Film: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
The Moment: With Luke wreaking havoc in the battle above the sarlacc pit, Boba Fett moves to try and change the momentum and at the very least get out of the fight alive. As he attempts to capture Luke so he can bring him back to the empire for a bounty, Han Solo inadvertently smacks Fett’s jet pack which send him flying into the side of Jabba’s yacht, knocking him to the ground and into the mouth of the sarlacc pit.
Why It’s Memorable: This is one of the most controversial moment in Star Wars history. Boba Fett is up there in terms of being the most popular character in the galaxy, and he managed to be a bad ass character the survived more than one movie. The same can’t be said about Darth Maul, or Boba’s father Jango Fett, but his streak of staying alive came to an end here.
Going out like a punk was pretty much invented to define this moment, as one of the baddest characters in the galaxy died by accidentally getting his jet pack whacked and then rolling helplessly into the belly of a Dune Sea monster. That’s not fair, but it also might not end up being the last we see of Fett.
