Just when we thought we were about to hit radio silence with The Force Awakens, Disney/Lucasfilm goes and drops a HUGE bomb on us in the form of all new character posters from the film. So far, we’ve got roughly five posters that have been revealed, but I fully expect that number to expand throughout the day. The excitement first began with John Boyega’s Twitter account, where he announced that he had a special “sneaky gift” for Star Wars fans.
That surprise turned out to be his character’s — Finn — own poster for The Force Awakens. Daisy Ridley who portrays Rey, quickly followed with her poster release via her personal Instagram account:
I love the muted tones of Jakku coming through Rey’s poster. Also, that staff has got to have some significance…perhaps as a double-bladed lightsaber? Then the official Star Wars Facebook page revealed Han Solo’s poster, complete with the old smuggler’s DL-44 heavy blaster.
Leia portrayed by Carrie Fisher:
Kylo Ren portrayed by Adam Driver:
As you can see, there is one main theme throughout all the posters, and that is the right eye and side of each character’s face is covered by his or her weapon or some type of light. Also, can we just take a moment to say how absolutely stunning Carrie Fisher is in her poster? Stay tuned as we will bring you more posters, as Disney and Lucasfilm release them…but for now, this is all we have.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters in early screenings on December 17, while the worldwide premiere is December 18.
