Legendary actor Max von Sydow’s character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been revealed through a children’s book. Warning: SPOILERS for the film are below.

Another mystery from Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been uncovered, as the name of legendary actor Max von Sydow’s character in the film has been revealed, through the magic of a children’s look and find book, of all places. Redditor TheYoungUpstart provided a look at the book, through Imgur and before you look, beware…SPOILERS abound.

Here’s the photo of Sydow’s character — Lor San Tekka — handing Poe Dameron something to hide inside BB-8; a message that will help the Resistance.

Rumors have been swirling since The Force Awakens was announced, that Luke’s lost lightsaber — the one he lost on Bespin in his duel with Darth Vader — would be found on Jakku, and smuggled off world inside of the droid BB-8. Here’s a description from the book:

"“Lor San Tekka stares at Poe Dameron through the heat of a Jakku night. Suddenly, a loud burst breaks the desert stillness. It’s the First Order.”"

In case you’re wondering, this is the scene from the trailers, where the First Order flametrooper is torching the desert village, Captain Phasma and her elite troopers attack, looking for the artifact in Lor’s possession, and Kylo Ren is seen swinging his crossguard lightsaber, presumably killing someone…maybe Sydow’s Lor San Tekka.

There are other pictures from the Imgur album, and you can see them HERE. But, here’s a short list of what they offer:

  • Han and Chewbacca crash the Millennium Falcon on the First Order’s snowy planet, looking for Rey and BB-8.
  • Finn wants to Han and Chewie, but there is a race against time, as Leia has ordered her X-Wings to destroy the First Order base. The heroes need to find Rey and BB-8 before the Resistance destroys the base. This says to me that Leia has changed and is willing to sacrifice the life of a good-guy (Rey and BB-8) in order to destroy the bad-guys.
  • The book mentions Leia’s X-Wing squadron. Does this mean General Leia is now piloting an X-Wing? I don’t think so, I think it’s called her squadron because she is in charge.
  • There is an active spy in Maz Kanata’s castle on Takonda, and the report to the First Order that Rey and her friends are there. I’m assuming this is where she gets captured.

There is a lot to process here, and this reveal is a huge spoiler for the film, as Sydow’s name has been mysteriously kept out of the media, and we know there is a spy working against our heroes. Oh well, I guess we have to wait less than a month now, for the worldwide theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, on December 17 and 18.
