Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm have unveiled the very first gameplay trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set.

Disney Interactive revealed this trailer today (Wednesday, November 25), which is the third Star Wars Play Set to be released for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, and will be available on December 18. Check it out:

"“Players will travel to a galaxy far, far away alongside new heroes and old friends in search for a much-needed ally.”"

Disney Infinity releases the following information — Playable characters from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens playset include:

  • Finn – A soldier on a path to adventure and danger
  • Rey –  A true survivor who is resourceful and capable

Both characters will join Poe Dameron, the trusted pilot of the Resistance who uses his expert flying skills to travel the galaxy, and Kylo Ren, an enforcer for the First Order who terrorizes the galaxy with devious acts.

As you may have noticed, the Rey character swings her staff with a bit of bluish Force effects, leaving me to believe this may be a bit of a spoiler ahead of the December 17 and 18 worldwide theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as it sort of hints at Rey being Force sensitive. That’s actually a much larger spoiler (if true) than you might think, as many believe Rey to be the daughter of Luke Skywalker, and that she will spend Episode VII on a mission to find her estranged father.

As of now, we don’t know if other characters from The Force Awakens will join Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren, but with this playset being released on December 18 (opening day for The Force Awakens), I would expect it to be extremely popular, which could mean more characters from the film added. And, if the trailer is any indication, Disney Infinity just got a whole lot more interesting…not that it wasn’t already.

UPDATE: Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron were announced as playable characters in September. Thanks to our readers for reminding us of that fact.
