Star Wars has had its fair share of deaths throughout the franchise’s history — but which ones are the most memorable?
While we tend to remember Star Wars as a family experience, there was a fair amount of heartbreak and shock to go around in the six — soon to be more — films released.
Death is a natural part of life, movies have shown us this, and Star Wars is no exception to the rule. The franchise touts a surprisingly high body count, when you break it all down, with more than a few characters dying in each of the movies. Think about that — one of the most family oriented franchises ever is a death trap for characters in every single movie that exists.
But what separates a death from being memorable or just any ordinary death?
Star Wars picked and chose its deaths very carefully, and left us with some truly memorable deaths that fans can name on the spot. Not every death is obvious and some seem more subtle and obscure, but once you see it you’ll instantly remember it and seeing it for the first time.
