Who Were They: Captain of the Trade Federation’s droid control ship in orbit over Naboo
How Did They Die: Exploded with the rest of the droid control ship after a young Anakin destroyed the ship’s main reactor
As we said before in the slide about the Separatist Council, it’s hard not to feel just a little bad about the Trade Federation in all the mess of the prequels. They’re made out to be this big mean force in The Phantom Menace, only to be defeated by a child, a princess, two guys with laser swords and a scrappy band of primitive amphibians. The shame they must’ve felt from that already makes them worthy of a little bit of our pity.
Their use of and association with the Droid Army only adds to this sentiment. From a lonely position in orbit over Naboo, Trade Federation captain Daultay Dofine controlled the entirety of the droid forces on the planet surface. In fact, as far as we can tell, he is among the only representatives of the Trade Federation on or near a planet that has supposedly just been invaded by the Trade Federation, thereby suggesting a telling bit of transference.

Darth Sidious – or, rather, Palpatine – recruited the Trade Federation to do his dirty work for him, who then subsequently recruited an army of droids to do the dirty work for them. What a vicious cycle for Dofine to be caught in the middle of.
