40. The Sith vs Romulans
When trying to find an equal to the Sith, one need only look as far as the Romulans. While the Romulans are an alien species, and the Sith have evolved from a red-skinned pure blooded Force sensitive species, into a sect of the Dark Side religion, their places in each respective genre are quite similar.
Sith:
- Home Planet — Korriban (now canonically changed to Morriband).
- Religion — The Dark Side of the Force
- Weapon of Choice — Lightsaber (usually marked by the red crystal).
- Current philosophy — The Rule of Two. One to hold the power, and one to crave it.
- Nemesis — The Jedi Order
Romulans:
- Home Planet — Romulus
- Religion — Worship and respect for the Elements
- Weapon of Choice — Romulan Disruptor Pistol
- Nemesis — The Vulcan and the Federation
Winner: The Sith. While the Romulans are certainly fascinating, and while they make for quite the villain, they just cannot compare to the power of the Dark Side. Where a Romulan may shoot you with his tiny pistol, a Sith will Force Choke you, then cut you in half with his or her lightsaber. Also, the Sith are masters of disguise and sabotage in order to see their plans come to fruition. No one knew Palpatine was the Dark Lord of the Sith, until he executed Order 66, and came out as the Emperor of the entire galaxy. Even with the Rule of Two becoming a Sith way of life, they were more than capable of destroying the Jedi Order, and it was because they hid in plain sight…right under the noses of the Jedi.
