37. Blasters vs Phasers

Both Star Wars and Star Trek have their own special brand of blaster pistols. The most famous blaster pistol in the Star Wars cinematic universe is without a doubt, Han Solo’s DL-44 Heavy Blaster…in fact, one could say it is iconic. Trek has the phaser pistol most commonly used by the Federation’s military. I could break each one down, and while they each have their own diverse range of abilities, Star Wars‘ blaster pistols are unique in that each character can easily be identified by his or her blaster…and Trek‘s phaser is just one of one million same carbon copy blasters.

Han’s blaster aside, take into account the silver and slim blaster used by Padme in the Prequel Trilogies, or how about Leia’s slimmed down version of the heavy blaster. Each one unique, and each one suited for the person wielding it. Now, that’s not to say that Star Wars doesn’t have its own version of mass-produced blaster pistols, because it definitely does, but in the world of Star Wars, individualism is more celebrated, and therefore the unique array of weapons is more on display.
