The Trade Federation was the bane of the Prequel Trilogy. As a group of intergalactic bankers go, the Trade Federation was pretty darn ruthless. They blockaded entire planets from receiving any help, until that planet signed their treaty. Then there’s the matter of the massive army of droids. The Trade Federation sewed chaos throughout the galaxy and they did it as puppets of the Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Cardassians are basically the Trade Federation of the Star Trek universe. The Cardassians were considered to be a hierarchical culture. To the Cardassians age as a sign of strength, power, and wisdom. In their culture, the 30th birthday was cause for celebration. Because of the emphasis on hierarchy in their culture, intense rivalries arose between both individuals, and families. Eventually, the Cardassians lent their strength to that of the Dominion’s, and formed a nearly unstoppable alliance. Eventually a treaty of peace was signed between the Dominion and the Federation, and the Cardassians ceased to be a threat.

Winner: The Trade Federation, because even when a Jedi peacekeeping force came to them on their ship, they tried to have them killed. And, the Trade Federation refused to make amends for all their wrong-doing. It wasn’t until the newly minted Lord Vader traveled to Mustafar to kill them at the behest of his Master, that the Trade Federation was ended.
