38. Captain Rex

Major Appearances

  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
  • Clone Wars
  • Star Wars Rebels

Best Moment

Like many warriors of the Clone Wars, it’s hard to pin an exact moment that was the best moment for Rex. But it’s hard to argue against the fact that he didn’t become a mindless clone trooper for the Empire after Order 66 was given. Rex pops up in Rebels and we’re happy to see him, because he’s one of the good clones. There has to be a lot of inspiration for the character of Finn in who Captain Rex was throughout his run in the Star Wars story.

Worst Moment

While he wasn’t one of the bad clone troopers, Rex also didn’t rock the boat the way he maybe could have to save some of the Jedi. He knew there was bad things on the horizon for his generals, but that didn’t totally stop him from tuning things out and just fighting the war. He can’t the blamed for this, as it’s what he was bred to do — and he’s also not a Jedi who missed this, so there’s that.

Breakdown

Fans who only watched the movies won’t be familiar with Rex, but that’s not a reason to refuse to read up on him. Rex is one of the many non-film characters who help complete the vast blanket of characters in the Star Wars universe, and he’s someone who helped shape the story that we know and love.
